Fuzzy. - Again an excellent thread. The save by Woods (first and second were good,) but the difference in Leeds striker's ability to go forward at speed is a worry. Donny need to have the same artillery, instead of tippy - tappy style
Bally - yes I see that thpugh I will say that that break by Leeds was only as good as the one that Bennett got on the end of and curled onto the post (too arrogant / flash).
Gradel's choice was better, just good 'keeping stopped him. If Bennett had done that (he could have), 2:0 Rovers and game over.
But as SOD said - "Could've, would've, should've" - counts for now't.
He was right there! I do not agree with him often but Bennett has made big leap up and yet I think he is still finding his feet, he will be alright
On the other hand lads, Bennett made his mind up early, placed his shot almost to perfection and was unlucky to see the outcome.
If it had gone in would would have hailed him for a composed finish.
I cant critcize him for doing what he did.
Perhaps he should have scored but who of us knows a striker who scores every time it is one on one with the keeper?
Better players than him have missed them.
I wasn't brig nasty about the kid and yes, if it goes in, everyone writes nice things. I do anyway as his run to get the position was brilliant.
But the curled shot while wheeling away? I'd have yelled at any striker for that had they missed because as I said, there are 10 or so easier ways of scoring .
Fuzzy, yes, there are other ways of scoring of course.
But, if he had tried to go round the keeper and not scored then some would have said "why didnt he hit it early".
He made his mind up and did what he did.
Its an old saying isnt it but, it is easy sat in the stands to get it right, on the pitch it is different.
How many times does Defoe get a one on one and how many does he miss, yet he plays for England.
That too must go for a referee, if he makes a mistake then there is hell to pay, as you say Hound. It is easier in the stands - now perhaps NOW people will see my point of view some times. mmmmmmmmmmmmm doubtful that one.
it looks as though we'll struggle to get 8000 today, a championship lowest for us maybe?
well nearly cov home last season hit 7,900 but that was a tuesday night!
Azza, i suppose even that shows that the fanbase has grown over the past few years.
Before we came up to the Championship the average gate probably wasnt as high as 8000 ( i havent researched the facts but no doubt someone can verify) so even given that the away end usually has more in it in this division generally than in L1 it would appear that our hardcore fanbase is bigger now than then.
In L1 we would have been glad if the lowest gate was only 8000.
It seems to me that the younger element are latching on to the club and as we know, once you are a fan you are for life.
Hound. Look what I say under Woodsy's save about Gradel proving he can't dio 1 on 1s either. I'm not being mean to the lad, he's the most exciting thing I've seen in a Donny shirt for years.
But he's got some learning to do and that effort showed it. That's all I'm saying.
I agree with you about the fact that he has some learning to do, he is a young player and experience counts for a lot.
I cant agree though that he did wrong with the type of shot he chose to do.
It could have gone in and then it would have been classed as a good finish.
If he chosen one of his other options and scored, that too would have been hailed, as he would have been castigated if he had missed with the other chosen option too.
Hindsight is a wonderfull thing and with the benefit of that we would all take different choices sometimes.
Lets give the lad credit for getting into a scoring position.
Missing the chance obviously didnt phase him though because he had the header at the start of the second half which was well saved by their keeper and the late shot that also hit the post.
I will be suprised if he doesnt get ten goals this season.
Good morning gentlemen. I agree, I like this boy, and he will score, hopefully today.
I am out of action today baby sitting the grand kids. This is a game we can win and should win my only concern is that we don't risk the boys coming back too soon I can wait a bit longer for the fist win.
I see we have missed out on Man Utd again in the next round of the cup. That would have been a nice earner.
I bet Man U are disappointed they're missing a trip to the 'moat! Oh well, maybe one day Sir Alex!
Le Fondre gone to reading.... bet the Rotherham lads are gutted
