Gus is even worse than Dim by the looks of things

Sherwood has the potential to be a good manager, Villa is good experience for him and he waited for the right role.

He should do well in his managerial career.

Sunderland are definitely that bad.

Every year the same thing happens no matter who is i just charge, about time they went down but credit to villa, you can only beat what's infront of you.

Sherwood is a good manager. Villa are the right level for him. He needs a few years at a club like that before stepping up to a top 6 team.

He had to go though, and Poch is a class above. Especially long-term. I like Tim's attitude though, similar to Poch in terms of developing youngsters, playing attacking football. He just doesn't have Poch's man management skills and gets riled too easily.

Maybe better than I gave him credit for when he was with us, but still don't think he's the best manager, even if I thought he'd be a good appointment for Villa for where they were and the options they had.

Time will dictate just how good he is, as Villa could at least be partly benefiting from a new manager syndrome, no matter who it was.

Southampton 8-0 Sunderland.

No credit for Dim Tim

Is Larsson trying to pull a sickie or has Gus lost the plot? Probably both

Chicken probably be on here at the moment telling us how wrong we were and how right he was but I still think Poch is a class above Sherwood and we were right to get rid. Credit where due to the Start he has made but lets be honest most teams with a new manager have a honey moon period which villa are. Still think sherwood will eventually pi SS off the players with his attitude like Di canio

It was a pretty good gig whoever followed Lambert really. You only have to have a modicum of football nous and you'll look like a genius following that clown.

All credit to Sherwood for getting enthusiasm levels up at Villa

He hopefully will do a good job there, but he was not the person to take Spurs forward and I wish him well going on.

I backed Sunderland for relegation at the start of the season, but looks like they may just escape because their are some truly awful sides down the bottom.

Bit like harry as ace says....great at lifting the sinking ship...but it will wear thin.

Sunderland are quite terrible tbh. They've got two ageing cb's and I can't for the life of me think when the last time one of their strikers scored. Also they'd meet a team looking to prove a point and two strikers looking to do the same!

Sunderland aren't that bad. They are a lower end club, but they certainly aren't cut adrift at the bottom. They aren't even bottom three.... yet. They can certainly have an off day or two though, and yesterday was certainly one

By the same token, Sherwood isn't the bozo some Spurs fans seem to wish he is. He clearly has something about him, in the short term at least. Long term we don't know as he has never had the luxury of time for implementation of his methods, or his own players - those luxuries afoorded to popular coaches.

Very good day for Sherwood, but a very bad day for Sunderland. 4-0 away at any team isn't to be sniffed at though.
