Blaming the subs
Its the starters who had the most time and to win it.
"he should have started for the hopeless welbeck"
============================================
I actually thought Welbeck (apart from his rapist touches) looked decent and dangerous. I actually think the subs weren't terrible but I think Giroud should have come off and Welbeck gone up front. Nothing was sticking with Giroud 2nd half and as a result, Walcott was anonymous, I think the threat of Welbeck's pace and his constant harrying may well have left Walcott in more one on one situations.
We could easily have had 2 pens and they could have had a lot more yellow cards, even a second yellow for 1 or 2 players, but at the end of the day we are out.
Just have to concentrate on the league and FA Cup
Welbeck put Monaco on the back foot throughout the first half despite his poor touches. He was responsible for the high tempo of our game. We dropped of a bit in the second half.
Would have taken of Welbeck. Him and Giroud were our only real threats. Sanchez had a game to forget
Monaco will get wacked by Bayern, Barca,or Real.
A great show, just too short in the end.
Wenger out.

Think I would have done the same. Sanchez lost too many balls that cost us energy to win the ball back
Wenger has never done well in this competition.
His teams are not good enough to control games.
Lets just win the league first eh.
We were never going to win the CL.
As Wenger would say " we dropped a bit in ze second alf"
who is this facking adrian chiles replacement. go fack yourself. WIth your stupid perm
I thought Santi was also great. Despite some nice passes I feel at times we carry ozil too much.
I wouldn't have started him and pushed Santi further forward with Ramsey playing from the start.
CL is looking better especially now that there are NO PL teams competing in it.
Citizens have got no chance vs Barca tomorrow.
It would be a dream come true if Top 4 became Top 3.

Well the truth is Herbie that he hardly got balls in the box second half. Our crosses really couldnt reach him.
OIzil was Ok but not a game changer. I would take
£30m for him in the summer if we can hang on to Santi. Looks like Arteta might be on his way .
Fair play to Mertesacker saying Monaco over the 2 legs deserve to go through.
Arsenal have improved a lot & have been good in the PL.
Can they maintain it especially with Liverpool & Man Utd breathing down their neck.
Are you clowns serious? Ozil was quality and was making things happen.
Sanchez was the worst player on the pitch.

I agree, GT. But the need to be fairly incisive and direct I think was the problem latterly. In that situation, I don't think Giroud's skill set is really required. I also think he was absolutely knackered from the admirable pressing he'd been doing and when the ball did come to him, it just wasn't sticking.
No criticism for him tonight from me, he actually did very well, I just think he should have been the one to make way in order to give Monaco a reason to drop even further than they were. This would have allowed Ramsey more space to run into from the middle third and given Walcott a chance as he would not have been doubled up on with Welbeck's pace still a factor.
We lacked the power and incisiveness of Ox, he was the game-changer we needed today.

You never know with Giroud, Herbie.....One good cross and the ball is in. Not happened in the second half enough for my taste.
On the other hand my impression was that Sanchez should have gone off instead of Danny Welbeck because he lost too many balls and couldnt pass defenders.
Plus we weren't utilising Walcott well.

Our passing from midfield wasnt accurate enough especially the last few minutes

Fair point; however, you know even in desperation mode, we're never gonna just fling it in the box with any real certainty. Should have done, because Giroud could certainly make something happen in that instance, but we're just never going to and when we do, our crosses are terrible.
Fair point on Sanchez too; he was abysmal tonight, the worst player on the pitch from either side. Completely unrecognizable at the moment he is.
