He made a massive mistake and was probably led down the garden path by more experienced players, he's a fantastic young cricketer and it'd be a shame if he never played again IMO, glad to see him back

I always felt sorry for him - I felt that he was used by Salman Butt.

I hope he does become the top player we expected him to be. It's good to see him in action again.

Very happy to see him back. He's done his time and now its time to show he can still produce. Could take him another year to reach any top level.

Pakistan will probably need someone to replace Irfan whose body is just not built for fast bowling.

It's great news.

He was old enough to know he was doing wrong, however he seems genuinely remorseful. Worth a second chance for sure.

Terrific talent was on his way to be a great. Hopefully he can retain that level, since it wasn't injury that stopped him.
Still 22, so time is on his side thankfully.

Whoever influenced him, it doesn't matter, he made a very bad choice. He also should've owned up straight away, rather than wait as long as he did.

Having said that, I think his ban was way too harsh. Unfortunately, I feel many people (even in that team) have done a lot worse, but they never got caught and ended up having no ban.

Agree with all comments above. Put it this way, if he hasn't 'lost it' pak bowling could look like this for the WC 2019 in england:

Amir
Junaid
Wahab
Rahat

Absolute quality.

I can't see Wahab being around in 2019.

We have a couple of new kids who are making an impact already in domestic level. Zia Ul Haq who is another left arm fast with a bright future.

Didn't you just know it, Cook who is selected as Captain once again without proof of his form now comes out and says the selectors were wrong to leave him out of the World Cup. Based on what Alistair, your scintillating record over the last 18 months?

Anyone know when was the last time he scored a century?

Yeah its good to see Mohammad Amir back but I do think that Salman Butt also should be allowed to return to at least playing domestic and county cricket but he won't be playing international cricket because of his age!

Butt is probably needed more in the Pak side then Amir

Ps Butt should never play for Pak again

Why not? If Amir can why can't this guy

Butt was the ring leader. Bring him back will just send the wrong message.

Amir is young and has potential. Thus the fans forgive him as he can improve the current crop.

Justifying it with any other means is stupid

That's where I was coming from. I see there's no interested in getting Mervyn Westfield back are there?

Yeah Mervyn who admitted to spot fixing got a less sanction than Kaneria who was accused of telling him to do spot fixing.Strange world as the person who tells a person to do wrong is punished more than the person who does the wrong act!Wierd rules though the acting person wrongly should be punished more severely!

I think if you're going to give Amir another chance, you have to give the other 2 another chance too. Butt may have been more involved and probably should've got a longer ban, but if they are all sorry, they should be given another chance, not only Amir cos he's young and marketable.

I think Butt & Asif should not be allowed to play for Pakistan again.

I do believe that Amir's case is difference. He was only 17/18 and used by the senior players. And he admitted all and co-operated with enquires unlike the other two.

BOD, that would be a great argument, but you are forgetting about the treatment of one man. There was that Pakistan wicket-keeper (forgot his name). He actually won a match for his team and explained to the ICC that he was asked to fix the match and he refused. The ICC and his own board ignored him and he has never played for his country again.

This suggests to me that the ICC couldn't care less about co-operation of players and this new, lawful Pak board didn't care either.

It seems all about money. Amir is a young, marketable player in an era where there are very few true superstars in world cricket and he would add an x-factor (which I'm fine with by the way), but it seems the others are just thrown away and loads of reasons are given, but in the end it comes down to giving people a second chance.

As for the wicket-keeper, he should've been applauded, but he was just ignored. I'll never forgive the ICC or the PCB for this.

You must be taking about Zulqarnain Haider. He retired from all cricket, claimed asylum in UK and is now back in Pakistan playing domestic cricket.

Yes, the guy who had that big partnership with Ajmal against England.

I don't know what he's doing right now, but why weren't his claims taken seriously at the time?
