You really are the king of knee jerk

That's Robb for you.
If Hart would have had a real shocker tonight and cost City a couple of goals.....what do you think his article would read like?
You really don't help yourself Robb to be fair.
Hart was on Gandalf mode tonight though. "You shall not pass"
People forget how good Hart was for a long period. He was on form probably the best in the country from his loan spell at Birmingham City to his first 2 seasons at City. That was when he was DDG's age now. Let's see if DDG can maintain his form.
Even though Hart hasn't been as consistent as he was back then, he still shows at times like tonight he's a WC keeper.
I'd say he's not the best English keeper in your league.
Fraser Forster is
I think most appreciate the great form he showed a few seasons back but no player can really be consisered WC when they have been that inconsistent for so long after that.
The whole WC term is obviously subjective but a handful of very good performances over the course of a few seasons is not enough to be considered it.
Some Liverpool fan has shot the real Robb & stolen his JA id
So how long before you declare someone that showed WC form a couple of seasons ago, for 3 seasons straight, and still occasionally puts in good, sometimes WC performances, is no longer world class then? What's the cut off point?
Hart is similar to DDG. Good games, bad games.

Pretty patronising comments there Stretty. You've made more than your fair share of supposedly 'kneejerk' comments.
I just say it as I see it and i've been a Hart fan for ages. I fully believe, rightly or wrongly that Hart is up there with the best keepers in the world.
This article is just paying tribute to a world class performance tonight.

There's no definitive answer but the last 3 or so seasons for me shows Hart's weaknesses, and those are weaknesses that I do not really see him erasing from his game.
Tonight he was great but when you look at the saves he made they were quite similar. Barca were picking City on the counter and Hart did brilliantly time and time again rushing off his line, that's what he excels at. To be a top keeper though takes man other attributes.
For me he doesn't exude a calmness to the side, he can be very erratic. Keepers like van Der Sar or Courtois are incredibly calm and it brings a calmness to the defence. Hart also doesn't have the best distribution or ability on the ball at feet, he can be put under a lot of pressure. Another weakness is his agility, he's a big lad and he lacks the cat lick reflexes of keepers such as de gea or Loris.
Don't get me wrong, he's a very good keeper who has clear strengths, but he also has plenty of weaknesses and it is those weaknesses that I don't ever see improving which is why I don't consider him WC or in the top hanfdul of keepers in the world.
I forgot, most importantly I feel that his concentration levels aren't the best. He has on many occasions made very silly mistakes. Not just mistakes based on his lack of ability in certain areas, but basic silly errors that have mainly come about due to poor concentration.
For me that is the one true test of a top keeper. I also mentioned earlier today that that is actually one area that de Gea has not been able to show yet at United because he has had such a poor defence in front of him.
Wouldn't say I'm kneejerk at all Robb. I stick to my guns (majority of the time)
Look at how unpopular I was on old 606 and on here over countless Ando debates. I was proved to be correct though.
You are the epitome of knee jerk though. I don't get carried away by one off games. I'm more a glass half empty person I guess.

I agree that he has his weaknesses and they've been highlighted in the last couple of seasons. He doesn't quite have that focus that he did, and that may be part of a collective thing with City, cause they haven't really been themselves for a while, and the defence in front of him has gone downhill.
Correct me if I'm wrong though but has he ever conceded more than 3 in one game before at City? Cause I know these other keepers touted as being better than him have, like Courtois and DDG. I'm not trying to say that to discredit those other keepers, but if that is indeed correct it's something worth noting when praising Hart.
I'm not sure the number of goals conceded in one game goes towards labelling a keeper WC or not, sometimes a team can just have one of those days and score some unstoppable goals which is no fault of a keeper. Also the number a team conceded has plenty to do with the defence in front of the keeper too.
Schmeichel has conceded more than 3 on quite a few occasions for us, I wouldn't say those games had any effect on the quality of him though.
It's still pretty decent though. I have checked and he's never conceded more than 3 goals in any match for City or Birmingham City; league match, cup match, or friendly. The one time City conceded 4 to Villa in a League Cup match Hart wasn't playing.
Hart isn't world class for me. Have him between the sticks in a game in which the opposition dominate and have lots of shots on goal, and he's capable of pulling off some unbelievable saves. As seen tonight. As seen on a consistent basis when he was on loan at Birmingham. As seen against Spurs when they battered us on the opening day a few seasons back (game finishing 0-0), and of course his performance against Dortmund to name some notable examples.
However, when he's not given a lot to do, his game has a tendancy to drop and become prone to mistakes. This shows he has a problem with maintaining his concentration, an attribute which in my opinion is crucial when it comes to identifying a goalkeeper as being world class.
Also, his distribution is often wayward.
Put simply, he's a formidable when under the cosh, but can't be relied on to produce such moments on a sporadic basis, which is exactly the kind of keeper the best teams in the league need.
It's impressive but I still don't think it says anything of the quality of Hart.
Like I said Schmeichel has done a few times for United (4 times in fact), that doesn't make him any less of a keeper. He's arguably the greatest keeper of all time. Neuer only a few weeks ago also let in 4 goals, all of them completely unstoppable and has no representation of his quality as a keeper.
I think it tells you a little. I mean were it not for Hart's performance tonight City would have easily conceded over 3 against some of the best players in the world.
Like I've said, I'm not trying to use that stat to knock the other goalkeepers, but it does I think say something about Hart's overall quality in spite of his weaknesses.
But every game is different, all it takes is 1 game where the opponent have 4 unstoppable shots and that has virtually nothing to do with the keeper.
You seem to be trying to imply that today's game is a regular occurrence and the only reason City don't concede 4 or more goals in a game is because of Hart, that's nonsense.
hart will make some great save, the defenders in front of him will also make some great tackles while the opponents will also have off days with their shooting, there are many variables as to how many goals a team can score.
Hart has had a pretty average to poor season and today's game showed him at his best but the truth it's a very rare occurrence.
Put it this way, if Hart played for Accrington Stanley and they played Barca a bunch of times the probability of them conceding more than 3 in a game is very high, why? Because the number of goals a team concede is based on many variables, not just the quality of the keeper.
So if he does concede more than 3 does that make Hart a worse keeper? Of course not.
You're picking 1 minor fact that is a result of many factors secondary to a keepers ability as to a reason why Hart is WC.
I've always thought Hart's throwing is among the best in the league
he cost you a goal a game until recently

I think the mistakes have been ironed out of Harts game. He's a very good Gk and to be honest I don't really see ddg being that much better. They both have a lot of the same strengths regarding shot stopping and anticipating danger . Hart better at taking crosses and ddg better at distribution. Reckon they're on the same level.

I'm not a United fan, but this is just you once again trying to be different to the general consensus, merely to obtain a reaction. It's so desperate.
