One more obvious point, had we beaten Hull of course then matches like this would be easier to take. When the post season inquest begins it will be the bottom clubs at home where Pearson will have been judged to have really failed this season, not games like this
Blackstarr were you at the game or did you watch a stream. if the latter was Morgan not at fault for the first goal,it looked like Kane was his man and he just lost him.
After that he was great but at the ground it seemed to me that Morgan messed up but I might have missed something
Picking up the scraps from Radio 5Live there was mention of a wasted scoring opportunity by Ulloa. It was also said that Leicester had the better of the 2nd half.
Your headline could pretty much sum up our whole season to be honest.
I had to resort to listening to the Sky team sunmarise our day and try all agreed, we have been unlucky, we are better than our position suggests, decisions have gone against us.
Merson even predicted a win from us today as we'd "impressed him" this season.
But what we unfortunately are is an almost team. We almost get results, but never do. At the end of the day, that's not good enough as results are all tat matter (unless you have West Ham's strange arrogance).
We've not been able to find a balance between defence and attack all season an today was no different. We score goals but we ship them in.
Yes Sky blamed the ref as the decision came at a critical time, but we'd already shipped two goals.
I can't comment too much in the game as I didn't see it. But on our seaso. The thing I've found most frustrating is that I feel we were almost a mid table team. Almost a team that could ok up points to stay up. Almost a team that could have kicked on.
Who should take the blame for that, I personally feel it's shared across the DoF, Pearson and players, but I don't think any of them should be chastised for the outcome as the margins have been small. Sadly, they now feel like a gulf.
You can big it up ny way you like, but to score 3 goals and lose surly shows here the problems were today.
well we wont be on motd last this week.an entertaining prefomance from the lads. i said yesterday Kane 7/2 first goal and that paid for my flat beer in the beehive. we just have to keep our hopes up but when you see a sub coming on wearing gloves Mahrez when its 11 cent in cloudy london is that the fighting spirit we need in the last few weeks of the season
As someone had indicated on a thread a couple of weeks back, "we always seem to raise our game to just below that of the opposition".......how true that statement seems to be. UTF.
Strangely another game gone with no points but higher hopes of survival.
KTF
Really TB? I admire your unquestioning loyalty but on what planet does yesterday's result give us 'higher hopes of survival'? Another game where we score no points?
Kasper did not do too much wrong yesterday (except pick the ball up out of the net 4 times) but with Hamer or possibly Schwarzer in goal we may well not have conceded the first.
Upson should not be seen in a back 3 again this season - or a back 2 for that matter - far too slow.
We really aren't getting the rub of the green. Three of their goals yesterday had greater or lesser degrees of good fortune, Kane's second (deflection could have gone anywhere but looped up nicely into the goal), the penalty that shouldn't have been and the Shlupp og.
They did fight back well though, so I don't see any indication that Pearson has lost the dressing room. I was worried at 2-0 this was going to be a drubbing, but it proved to be far from the case.
I'd agree it was a bit strange not to see Krammy at all, but Nige no doubt had his reasons.
I am bewildered how we've not managed a point against Spurs in either game.
If you could just take a minute to run through your logic TB I'm sure we'd all appreciate it
An unlucky day but 11 points in the last 24 GAMES is not bad luck or Ref's. Did not see or hear the game but pleased for Vardy again written off and also Nugent someone i have written off nearly as many times as King.
But as for Kasper Starting all the defense must of realised that there job was going to be harder because he wasn't going to come off his line.
As for TB and he calls me a liar. Where the truth let alone logic in that statement or is just trying to wind us up?
Every team around us also lost ( except QPR ) and we got one of our hardest games out of the way on paper.
Morgan looks to have found some form again and he scored from a corner !!!!!! anyone else notice his movement before the corner was taken, something we haven't seen before.
We wouldn't have got the 3rd goal for definite if KS wasn't in goal, I don't think he can be blamed for any goal.
Nugent and Vardy both played excellently.
I'm not even sure Upson can take any blame for their second goal, Walker had the drop on him.
All in all I see it as a positive day, not even the usual scathing threads.
KTF
I should also add that Pearson obviously hasn't lost the dressing room.
The players are still up for the fight.
PPS yes Nev , I truly believe you are a Liar, after stating it before it amazes me that not one other poster came to your aid to give proof on your behalf.
Not posted in a whole, but thought now was a good an opportunity as any to get back into the swing.
Unlucky yesterday again, although a common theme for me is us, as a team, not being quite good enough off the ball.
Think it became apparent we didn't need three at CB, and perhaps a little more support down the
Channels in defence, but on the whole, worked reasonably well.
My preference is four at the back, and we are at the start where they need to be attacking FBs so although they have defensive weaknesses, Id stick with schlupp and de laet. In addition, I thought the three up top worked reasonably well and in particularly, there is a clear relationship/communication between Nugent and Vardy which we need to utilise consistently until the end of the season for me (I know they are both guilty in front of goal at times, but they bring more positives being in the team than out for me). So id consider loosely a 4-3-3, with Cambiasso and James and
'Another central midfielder' (argument: we don't have an attacking one who is good enough) or if we want to be uber attacking, 4-3-3 with mahrez in a free role behind a front three and in front of two holding.
First time posting on a phone, so I apologise if this is riddled with errors
The only problem with your assessment ( IMHO ) is bringing Mahrez back in, all smoke and no fire plus he slows the game down too much.
Even yesterday when he had the chance to cross in the box he chose the fancy pass which failed to find anyone.
Of course West Ham will be a totally different game and the same players and formation won't work so well in all likelihood.
Hi TB liar here,oh and by the way if you expect validation of yours or my words as being proof of being right you are sadly mistaken. You have made some good points rather than the one liner attack which gives you more creditability in the debate imo for what its worth.
You say no scathing comments well i would hope not a good performance but you seem happy that we have got one of our hardest games away. You will be right if it gives the boys confidence to go into games where the opposition are going to park the Provable bus and leave men back to stop our quick attacks.
I want us to stay up but yesterdays defeat in the context of 11 points in 24 games does not give me any confidence as for Nigel blaming the Ref i agree the Ref was at fault but what is Nugent doing challenging in the box. The Ref would not of been given the opportunity if Nug had got a challenge in earlier.
No Referee or all of them collectively are responsible for our bad luck you make your own luck.
I think that as a general assessment of Mahrez is a little unfair but concede, for one reason or another, he has faded.
In a free role/pocket it would have less impact if he wasn't great on our General play than if he was wide.
Another one to consider, may be 4-2-1-2 with Nugent in the pocket and the other three strikers umbrella'd in front of him. Perhaps a little too holloway though
The way Kramaric plays, maybe he should be the one there as he drops deep anyway?
I think kramaric has dropped deep, although I'm not entirely convinced it was tactical where he'd been asked to play in games when he's done it.
Possibility though: athough I do think Nugent has shown more evidence, at present, of showing more promise in that position.
Ideally, we play this season and King gets a regular amount of football and shows promise in that role or we have signed an attacking midfielder - an area, we have been quite weak in for a while - although they don't come cheap
TB - interesting insight into your thoughts. Which must be even more positive as QPR also lost. I agree that there are positives, including we did not lose ground. However, that's going to be no good whatsoever if we keep on losing ourselves - we're simply not going to close the gap otherwise and be relegated. We have to find a way of getting some points.
We'll have to agree to disagree about Kasper, he showed his usual weakness with the cross for the first goal. I think Hamer (and possibly Schwarzer) would have got more on it.
Dunge has identified Upson as too slow recently, I agree, yesterday he was left for dead for their second goal.
KTF - you really want to make it hard for us with your 9 man 4-2-1-2 formation!
Nuneaton - my belief rests on us starting to win games obviously, we are so close and just one match could light a nice run with the games we have left, it's getting that win soon enough and it really needs to be West Ham, if we do win it then we're on our way.
Unlike other teams ( barring probably Burnley ) and don't forget Hull are still in it, we are actually playing quite well so with at least 6 being in the dog fight we DO still have a chance however slim.
I just choose to show my hope in belief in the Club, team and management unlike sadly so many others who appear to have abandoned ship almost before the season began, that's up to them but doesn't mean I'm deluded, a Pearson sycophant or wrong to stay on board to the very end.
By the way, did you see the first goal as a cross or a flick that KS did well to get anything on?
I think some of the problem here TB is that because some of us choose to see the reality (in our opinion of course) - you've somehow got it into your head that this is tantamount to club treason. That this lack of belief in the club, team and management is a disgrace and we should be almost ashamed of ourselves.
While of course you've never said that outright, your abrasiveness towards those who feel we have got the wrong man in charge and that we are going to be shortly relegated would seem to suggest you take issue with such a stance.
Some of the people who share this view have been supporters for as long as you've been born - they've probably been to more games than you and me combined over the years and they're entitled to express their frustration and anger over what they feel is a wasted opportunity.
While this doesnt fit in with your belief that a string of results is just around the corner, it doesnt mean we've "abandoned ship". We go to matches, we pay our money, we buy the merchandise, we sing support from the terraces, we're going down with the ship TB. Its just that some of us can see it....
TB and BS this is the forum where we show our reservations if i was at the match i would be shouting my support never booing players or shouting for the manager to be sacked and paying a large sum of money for the privilege.
Give me a glimer of hope and i am there one slight glimmer is Hull have a hell of a run in!!1
