Captain next season?

Arteta will still be here, as will Mertesacker.

If neither are first choice starting 11 players (likely) then my guess would be Ramsey

No chance for Coq. Or Wilshere (for now). If Mert and Arteta are still here, they'll still be the top 2 picks. They're more natural leaders in terms of their temperament, influence on the team and experience than other options in the team. Even though neither exactly are Roy Keane or Viera. But that's what we have.

Who wears a black armband is over analysed and not very important in my opinion.

The player with the longest tenure at the club.

Think Ramsey could be a good captain.

The only real captain style leader in the first 11 is Coq but it's too early for him IMO (wouldn't be upset if he got it, in fact I'd be a lot happy than if it went to anyone else other than Kos).

So yeah, Kos is my choice.

Arteta will and should still be here next season therefore will be club captain

posted on 15/4/15

Should be Kosc. As for Arteta- release the guy along with Diabolical.

posted on 15/4/15

Should leave them as they are until they leave. We need to have leaders on the field through actions more than naming people "captain" / "club captain" etc.

Mert plays often enough and Arteta has the manager's and team's respect.

Meant to say starting player with the longest tenure.

You don't need an armband to be a leader.

Blimey

Coq has a few decent games and he is being talked about as Arsenal captain next season...

This site never ceases to make me smile.

Don't see what's so funny about Coq suggestions.

He's shown immense maturity and leadership since emerging,.also has superb desire.

Sentimentally I want Jack to get it someday, especially over Ramsey who's admitted he may leave one day, Jack is Mr. Arsenal

Arteta is the natural leader in the team, he commands respect of players and the manager. Though whether he's good enough is a different matter. Mertersacker another one in the same boat.

Coquelin could have a shot at vice I suppose. Cazorla and Kos are next on the list anyway.

Thought it might be Walcott, but Diaby does indeed pip him by a week.

You've obviously been coq blocked before

You don't just change the captain every season lol.

Someone who plays all the time, although its been a bit of a jinx in recent memory.

Mertsacker will probably get it and then be dropped!!

I'd like to see Ramsey get it, as he's a player when the games are tight who the team will look to, to do something special or lead by example on how to run your behind off

Guess it will stay with Arteta for next season but beyond that I think Ramsey is a good shout, both in terms of a prediction being the right man for the job.

Highly doubt Wenger would even consider Wilshere after several demonstrations of unprofessionalism from the guy. Wouldn't want him as our captain to be honest.
