Not a great idea to terminate. Kane could get injured, Soldado suspended. Who would play then.
Same with the other players you refer to. Do you have replacements if there's a crisis?

You could say the same about Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela. They are all just players who take money from us and give very little back. Even if Ade is a massive compared to those 3, at least we know Ade is capable of going on a good run for Spurs and has done. If anything he's been better value for money.
It's been a shambles of a season with regard to our chairmans inability to sign a striker.

a striker blocking harry kane is exactly what we needed
"It's been a shambles of a season with regard to our chairmans inability to sign a striker."
The irony is that during 15 years of recent mediocrity, the club has had the likes of Teddy and Klinsmann in the squad.
And now, when the team is on the brink, we cannot get similar for love nor (available) money.

These are the sort of questions asked by those who have no financial or other stake in the subject.
Put yourself in Levy's shoes and then ask the same question.
Adebayor may very well have acted against the interests of the club, but not bad enough to cancel his contract. To get rid, he must be offered a better deal elsewhere. I have stated this frequently in the past and you have also picked up on that in very recent threads. Contracts are all about protecting the interests of the parties to the contract, and in football, the contract is biased in favour of the player.
Now supposing you are a disappointed chairman who feels that a player is not fulfilling his part of the contract, ie consistently playing to a level commensurate with wages paid and skill levels and you want to get rid, how do you do it?
As you say, pay up his contract!!! What does that do?
Reward the player for not fulfilling his part of the contract. He will get all that is due to him under the contract, he might very well get a lucrative, but not so high paid contract elsewhere, and perhaps a signing on fee. So for being a problem he wins hands down.
If I were Levy, I would prefer to pay what I have to pay whatever the circumstances and let him rot in the reserves, knowing that when the contract is eventually up he will be a year older and less likely to benefit to any great extent his new freedom.
If he consistently worked hard, showed he cared about the club and his performance for his wages I would not think in this manner.

It doesn`t matter now. Spurs will finish where they are, so could promote a youth team striker if necessary.
Just me, Bill
You are probably right if it is actually punishing Ade by letting him rot in the reserves. But I doubt he gives a fig, he is getting paid for doing nothing. Something 99 per cent of us would love to do agreed.

I assume that is a rhetorical question.

He is sitting around getting paid fortunes for doing nothing. May as well just out him, what is the difference?
"Gardening leave???"
Still get paid for that.
I think Tim Sherwood could get more out of Ade next season at Villa.
Problem is that he is on massive wages. Not playing. SO who is (1) going to want to spend a fee on him and (2) think he's worth the wages we pay him or (3) have any interest in him whatsoever?
Answer, no one! Basically we cannot even give him away.
The only way out of this is if we find some mug who thinks they can get the best out of Ade and we either loan or given him to them and pay some of his wages.
There is no point paying off his contract because he then has his full pay and offers nothing, not even in an emergency. Unless he is such a bad influence on the training ground ( I have heard numerous Brad Friedel interview where he says Ade is no problem at all) then paying out his contract achieves nothing.
What i think is important is that we do not let his situation affect our transfer plans. Assume he stays, assume we pay him and make our plans.....if he goes its a bonus. Levy just has to suck up the loss on this one, we all knew it was a risk, everyone gave him the benefit of the doubt but history has repeated itself as it did with Arsenal and City
Devils advocate....
What history from Arsenal has repeated itself Devon?
