My vote has to go to Zidane. The only midfield player I'd rate slightly above Paul Scholes of the modern era..

Talent doesn't mean much if you don't fulfill that talent over a career. Hey Bojan has tonnes of it yet he's gone from Barca to Stoke
I think Zidane 'over all' was more talented and skill full than Scholes yes, in some areas Scholes excelled but Zidane was the complete package, plus led France to WC glory

Xavi has to be another one too, Xavi with the right midfield partner would lead a team to dominating the league

In terms of player I'd have loved to have seen play in the prem, I have to go with what I assume is going to be a very popular concensus and say Ronaldo. Just an astonishingly good player.
