Robb Lannister - a Lannister always wins his bets. (U20351)
All I am saying is, this report does not mean De Gea is going. It is not definitive proof of anything. The club itself would be silly to sell, better to let him go on a free and keep him for another season. We don't need 20m, we are a rich club. The club should show restraint and not sell and let him see out his contract. I know you want Bale but it's not going to happen. It will be us losing out, again, and not replacing De Gea well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bizarre reasoning.
£20 million is still a lot of money and letting him go for free makes us look like idiots.
There are decent keepers out there this season like Cech who are available.
We're a big club so if DDG wants to go (operative word being IF) sell him now and move on rather than have the potential drama of 'Manchester United keeper doesn't want to be at the club next season so will see out his contract and leave for free because they won't sell him' hang over our heads.
That drama would be very distracting.

If we do lose De Gea we will need sign a world class keeper, but who? Only one out there is maybe Lloris, and he's as good as De Gea, especially in terms of distribution. Valdes would be bad at dealing with set pieces which is a major problem. He is also quite small for a keeper.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We don't need to sign a World Class keeper.
We just need to not rely on our keeper so much. A decent keeper in front of a better defence than we have and playing behind the kind of possession based football we've played in recent weeks means that replacing DDG with a level below type player won't hurt us much at all.
You lot would probably get Begovic.. easy move as he lives about 30 miles away.
I rate Begovic and think him with a better defence than what we have would be fine.

Read this about the claims, it should keep everyone's mind at ease.
Pedrerol is an experienced anchor of Spanish football gossip programmes. It's hard to explain to audiences outside Spain what he does and what those programmes are like... there is nothing comparable on British TV. Pedrerol fronted Punto Pelota which was widely regarded to be the football TV show spouting the most nonsense - it was a standing joke in Spain. Claims were made by people such as Francois Gallardo, the same Gallardo who has in the past claimed to be an agent working on various deal including John Terry to Valencia and Didier Drogba to Barcelona. Of course, that was all nonsense but that's what Gallardo does - and his wildest claims were set to mood music.
And also this:
@Sport_Witness: Josep Pedrerol says every month that David De Gea has said yes to Real Madrid. Sometimes more often than that.

Cech would be the perfect replacement. He's available, cheap and has great experience.
This report in the OP might be garbage (I hope it is) but there is a real fear DDG might go. Especially as he's a few months away from being able to sign a pre-contract deal with Real.
Punto Pelota is a TV channel that loves making wild claims without any evidence to back it up. Last year they claimed Terry was moving to Valencia which was of course was bull in the end. I'm sure IOAG will expand more on it as well, it's a terrible source.
"The Manchester United goalkeeper wants to wear the white of Real Madrid from next season"
Take the money now if he wants to go. He has made some great saves and has earned points but people are going way overboard about him. Still weak from his line/crosses. Great distributor and shot stopper but if you want to leave no point keeping him and losing him for nothing.
Another point about many digging out the defence,he is a big part of that and is not a vocal/organising type.
Smalling and Jones have looked better lately injuries aside and suggesting 19yo Shaw is not good enough after an injury plagued season is a bit mystic meg.

His kicking is good. He could play CB.
Gary Neville told Martin Samuel of the Daily Mail that we should use DDG to bring Bale to United.
Makes sense. Bale's pace would keep opposition defenders on the backfoot and relieve pressure on the defence.
In many ways Bale would be the best defender we could buy.
So basically we might as well use Give Me Sport as a source if this is acceptable.
Ancelotti himself said the other day that he has three top goalkeepers at Madrid and that he intends to stay along with Casillas and he hasn't discussed signing a goalkeeper once with the board.
But of course believe the papers
gutted if he goes but we'll move on from it. Depends how eager he is to move home, as opposed to which club he plays for I reckon.
We'll be offering him exactly what Real can in terms of challenging for trophies, and I'd imagine more money.
Geography, as it usually is, is our biggest enemy when recruiting in this situation
Whilst I wouldn't take this report seriously at all, this saga does have a Ronaldo-feel to it. We all know he'll end up at Madrid sooner or later.
I reckon he'll sign a new contract soon and then be off next year, allowing us to get a good fee.

Who said anything about Smalling and Jones? (who have been quite good recently as it turns out).
And who said anything about an average keeper?
No-one is saying we should buy Shaka Hislop.
Cech, with Clyne, Shaw, Godin and Rojo in front of him is a title winning defence.
Still weak from his line/crosses

Erm, based on what?
I think Herrera could be a Barca target.
