The only recent history in a positive sense we have with Dutch players was Kuyt.
Zenden
Babel
Assaidi
Were all flops.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kuyt himself never lived up to the hype. He had an outstanding scoring in record in Dutch league but in the Prem as a striker he failed.
I'd be surprised if he didn't talk to all clubs interested in him tbh, within reason
Considering his natural ability or lack of it, I think Kuyt did very well for us.
Testament to hard work and dedication to the team. Same as Carra, not blessed with any natural talent all hard work.
Shows these talented young players as lazy gobshi£es.

Yup, agent putting a picture of being outside the Carrington training complex is pretty blatant in saying his client is in talks with Man Utd.
The mirror story undone in a matter of hours!
That's why i don't buy a newspaper.. completely old news by the time it is printed.

which team was it he scored a hat-trick of tap-ins against?
Jay Spearing also showed hard work and dedication. Kuyt was one of the most frustrating players to watch. He had his moments but by and large he was a disappointment.
He was the first to react in the box.
Basically the Dutch Teddy Sheringham
Kuyt was excellent for us. We could do with a Kuyt now.
Sheringham was a better player than Kuyt.
Possibly. Maybe some English hype in there.. though Sheringham did play in a better team.
But see with Kuyt, his work ethic and willingness.. And then you see balotelli..
You cannot help but be frustrated with Balotelli. I've said before that Balotelli will fulfill his potential for a couple of years when he is 28/29.. God knows who he will be playing for then!
He'll have a couple of top seasons like Rivaldo..
Sheringham, alongside Fowler, are probably the last very good technical English strikers.
What Sheringham obviously lacked in pace was somewhat of a advantage of what he gained in his overal game, while still being capable of putting the ball in the (germans) net.
Never got the hype for Balotelli, not at Inter,City or now Liverpool. You can do so much better than him.
Now I just wait while he scores a hattrick today to fully cement my comment as absurd.
No chance. He'll score one, maybe. And that's only if he hasn't previously closed down a defender, because then he'll think he's done enough and will cruise the rest of the game.
We hardly ever played Kuyt as an out and out striker. He would have scored a lot more goals if we had.
I liked Kuyt as a player, of course the hattrick v man utd sticks out - he was in the right place to put the ball away - you can't teach that.
Another thing about kuyt is he never bottled a penalty and never missed one either.
One of his goals that stuck in my memory was v Portsmouth late on. He beat the keeper with sheer power at the near post, the only place he could have scored.
If it was a fashionable player that had done that it wouldve been talked about for ages.

Assaidi isn't Dutch.
------
Ok technically he's algerian but he learnt his football in Holland.
Ok he's from the Maghreb region.
Happy?
Not really, never heard of the Maghreb region.
The answer on the card is Moroccan.
Unlucky.
Sheringham scored goals for Notts Forest and Spurs in prem on a regular basis even before he joined United. He even managed to redevelop himself from an out and out forward to a number 10. Kuyt doesn't even come close to Sheringham.
You can't fault Kuyt for the hard work, never say die attitude but overall he lacked the killer instinct at the top level to be a striker.
Agree Kuyt was never a great striker in the Prem. lacked the pace and mobility and wasn't clever enough.
He was (is) a very good footballer though.
I think Kuyt did a very good job for Liverpool and is underrated by a lot of people.
A testimony to hard work and dedication. Give me a team of Kuyt's over a team of Balotelli's anyday.
Someone like Borini could have been a Kuyt type of player. Failed as a striker but play him out wide and he would have displayed similar hard working characteristics. Possible opportunity missed by Rodgers.
