Being at Meadow Lane reminds me of a story from a long time ago when I worked for CWS Drinks Group. We had a depot there and there was also a Nottingham Coop Dairy depot. At the bottom of the road was aT junction with a tall wall at the bottom.
My boss told me what happened some years previously. We had a lorry going down towards the T Junction and at the bottom was a horse and cart from the dairy. The road was slippy and the driver tried to stop, he couldn't and hit the horse and cart and then the wall.
The police came along with a vet, the vet put the horse out of its misery and the police began to question our driver.
" Now, you were coming down the road and not being able to stop you hit the cart and killed the horse."
" No I didn't, "
" Yes you did " said the policeman.
This went on for a few minutes. The copper repeated once again and our driver said, " I didn't kill that horse, that so and so shot it."
