I do find it rather pathetic though when some of these thugs are being arrested they scream out that they can't breathe yet you need to breathe to be able to speak.
Rtm. Most of what you wrote is factually incorrect.
Race relations in the USA are not so much better. Don't let Obama being President fool you. Since his presidency 1 black person has been shot every 28 hours in USA
Compensation to police victims is in yne millions but charges to officers non existent. The numner of cases where witness testimony is totally different to police versions is startling. Only now with CCTV and cameras is it being shown that witnesses weren't just anti police etc
Legislation from the 80's is still being used in the ghettos where having weed will see a guy get more time than a rapist from the suburbs.
USA might appear to be the mighty force it portrays itself as but I read a stat once that said if you live outside the USA, have no debt and a tenner in your pocket you are richer than the majority of people in the USA. It gave a percentage but I can't remember that but it was high
Got to say RtM that no-one is trained to break four vertebrae, sever a spinal chord and crush a voice box. That's a knee on a neck or head lock. It's disgusting.
Like it or not so many people fit the bill when racial profiling and when you have so many gang members blasting rap from their cars and looking like thugs those who look to mimic that style cannot complain when they are seen in the same light by officers who are looking for these gang members.

By the way I am not saying what some people say isn't valid.
My issue is that those who quote MLK and his stance against violence need to acknowledge that he said it was morally irresponsible to condemn rioting without
, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society
You have to question the police training in the current climate regardless of any racist intent.
Is it a case that the relationship between police and certain communities has broken to such an extent that officers feel they cannot rely on that training for their safety and are resorting to a "us or them" mentality. Inevitably leading to over the top extreme force in order to carry out the duty of arrest?
Most of the replies to my comment come off as cheap point scoring so I wont be replying to those but falmaria - which parts of what I said are factually incorrect?

4 armed US cops in Baltimore arrest a black man and in the process of doing so while taking him into custody, inflict severe injuries, including a broken back, eventually resulting in his death.
Recently 4 unarmed off duty Swedish cops on vacation in New York went to the aide of a guard on a train who calls for help when a black passenger is being violently assaulted by another. Swedish cops carry out a citizen arrest with minimal force and calming verbal orders, and while there is some struggle, there are no injuries inflicted on assailant while waiting for NYPD.

So you think that because a guy has a flash car with 20" alloy wheels, blacked out windows and gold chains means he should be racially profiled?
"So you think that because a guy has a flash car with 20" alloy wheels, blacked out windows and gold chains means he should be racially profiled?"
absolutely not.
regardless of skin colour anyone demonstrating that kind of thug persona should be profiled

Errr well no. Breaking someone's neck and severing their spinal chord for having the temerity to break into a job is, in every sense of the words, excessive force.
This is indisputable.
Most likely the apple does not fall far from the tree where he is concerned.
Grounded for a month at least

Sigh Robin did I not say I felt it was likely an accident? Or are you purposely ignoring that to point score?

Accident? Really? If laughing at the notion that being excessive is an accident then yes, I am.
The severed his spinal chord ffs. What's wrong with you?
What are you suggesting they did then to sever his spine? Please expand on your condescending tone.
No way could the tackle, falling awkwardly, multiple cops jumping on him to restrain him ever result in an accidental injury could it?
