Agree with this once the aftermath of the shocking Hull match has subsided. I won't be seeing the next few games as I'm on holiday and time difference makes it a bit of a pain so I'm now just looking forward to next season really.
I think sterling will be off in summer and good riddance, more concerned about himself than the team. I would love to be proven wrong here but I just don't see it.
I really hope we use that money wisely though.
Is this another indirect blame it on Balotelli article?
Not at all mate. I don't blame Balotelli for the poor season we have. I blame the manager, owners, recruitment team for bringing him in. Personally I think he is a very nice guy, whose proved a lot of people wrong, when you think about what has happened to him. He went from being in a very poor family, not knowing his biological parents from a young age, and has gone onto represent his country at international level and play for a host of huge clubs.
I don't think he should be here next season, but that doesn't mean I blame him for why I think that. If anything he has been a victim of the club, and not the other way round. However, I think he still needs to be moved on.
This article was intended for positive thoughts anyway, because I think a lot of our fans need that at the moment
Depends if you consider being a Europa League side a disaster.

I don't know. It definitely is considered that in England, but with the prospect of getting into the Champions League, then it obviously has improved slightly.
Yeah true, but I guess it depends whether or not Liverpool will be looking at it as a viable route into the CL.

Under Brendan I don't think we can, and I can't of wouldn't mind missing out on it. However, would be good European experience for what is still a very young manager.
If Klopp or Benitez came in, then I think it would be a very different story. Could see them two focusing more on it.
Look at utd. How much spent? Plus what....going after 1 trophy? We are 7 points behind after hittimg 2 cup semi finals plus having Europe to contend with PLUS losing sturridge and Suarez.
Utd BOUGHT falcao and di maria dont forget. Its not so bad, altgough that loss to hull was abysmal.
I suppose a problem with that is that the lack of experience can hinder you in the CL if you get there. Look at this season.
We didn't buy Falcao, GB.
Darren, I think the lack of experience has affected us throughout the whole season, not just the CL.
As soon as we concede the heads go down so quickly it's unbelievable. There's no real leadership out there other than Skrtel and an inconsistent Hendo
When Kenny and Rafa left, we still had Suarez and Torres respectively. This time we don't have that top-class player.
It's not all shít for the future as we do have some good players, but this season has been a massive missed opportunity which is why it's been so disappointing.
After finally getting into the top 4, we had the chance to establish ourselves as a CL side again. That's the only way the club is going to become a force again, because of the huge money involved and the players consistent CL football attracts. One season might be considered a fluke.
Given that Utd are also in transition with a new manager, and City have been awful for the second half of this season, the chance was there. But unfortunately we screwed it up, due to a combination of poor recruitment and poor management.
Next season is another rebuilding season now, regardless of who is in charge, when it could have been the time to really start to kick on, which is why it's been so disappointing.
We're not going to spend as much as last summer, we don't have CL to attract the better players, so we're going to have to make some very shrewd signings and hope that the current crop comes good.
Ehrman, I agree that it's another rebuilding season next year but just hopefully without the wholesale squad changes that happened last summer.
I feel we should also give a run out to the likes of Brannagan and Yesil (if fit enough) in the remaining games this season to see if they are ready for the first team. If they don't look lost then we can keep them in the squad for next season. We're all aware of what the likes of Allen and Borini bring to the team so why not try the kids in what will essentially be dead rubbers.
Dean, yeah that's a fair point.
There just seems to be a lack of belief and inspiration. Losing Suarez has had a big impact on that as well. Even if he didn't directly score, or assist, his attitude when going a goal down rubs off on the team.
When you conceded last season you just knew Liverpool had it in them to go up the other end and score two or three. That's no longer the case, whether Sturridge is playing or not.

I hope so, but considering we're being linked with the likes of Ings we'll just be adding more squad fillers rather than improving the 1st XI. He's not a bad player, but not going to take us to the next level. Rather just use the youth team players for that.
Yeah definitely. I thought it was offside at first but had to laugh when I saw the replay and all the Liverpool players ran out apart from Balotelli.
To be fair, you can't just say we have been linked with Ings. We have drastically been linked more to Depay, who is a very highly rated player, being considered by Champions League clubs. You can't just pick and choose transfer links to criticize the club with.
Fair point, I'm just not optimistic about getting Depay as Utd and PSG are also in talks. But he's also another 'young with potential' kind of player, and we really do have enough of those.
I know, but we have to look at the positives. We aren't a club that usually buys an already rounded diamond. Alonso was pretty unknown, Mascherano wasn't good enough for English football, Torres was a goal every three game striker with potential, Coutinho was just a young talent, Suarez was a controversial gamble, Sturridge had failed at City and Chelsea....
At the moment we are going to have to make these risks unfortunately.
Yep, just gotta hope whoever is in charge gets the signings right this summer. Like I said earlier that's why this season has been so disappointing, we had the opportunity to move forward to having to take fewer risks by consolidating a CL spot.
If they're willing to join us I'd happily take Ings and Milner who are two of the main players who've been linked.
Milner is a decent if unspectacular player and I know that most of the City fans on here (all 3 of them... ) rate him highly. He would certainly add some experience to our young squad too.
As for Ings, he ideally wouldn't be first choice (if Sturridge can ever stay fit) but I'd much rather have him on the bench than Borini whose time is surely up this summer.
Depay I'm not sure about. It's tricky buying younger players from inferior leagues. He could turn out like Suarez or he could turn out like Babel and the fee being quoted makes it a bit of a risky transfer in that respect. There are question marks over whether he would adjust as a youngster in a new league in his first season, which I feel is partly what has contributed to our poor season this year (see Markovic, Moreno, etc.) Has anyone seen much of him play? Must admit to only having seen highlights and YouTube, etc...
I haven't seen that much of Depay but I like what I have seen.
Hope we sign him, personally, and I think that we will. Many signs point to us getting him in the summer.
