Has he just not made the grade in the PL or what?

His penalty miss at Watford followed by the tears.

His and mine.

And for the goal he did score against Watfors the following years.

Was a very likeable player at Leicester and was always fully committed to Leicester but unfortunately I always felt like he was going to struggle to make the step although he probably hasn't had a fair chance this season. Will be missed but isn't irreplaceable

I'm sure people will remember the Forest match and the two Watford ones, but the scorpion goal is the absolute standout for me personally. A simply unbelievable goal, both in technique and audacity. We thought we had a potential world-beater on our hands at that time, unfortunately he was never able to improve on that.

Ultimately, his lack of pace and physicality has proven decisive in this league. I wish him all the best, and hope he entertains many others with his skill, determination, and ability to play truly attractive football - even in a tough league like the Championship.

Incidentally, in the unlikely event that we have nothing to play for against QPR on the last day, it'd be great to see him come off the bench for one last performance.

His free kick last season against Derby was a cracker.

I wonder if there really will be a riot down the KP at the next home match now...?

Why don't you keep him next season, if you go down that is?

Great shame.

Thank you for entertaining us Anthony.

Because he's out of contract, Busby. He'll want it sorting now. We've offered him a contract which is said to be "fair", but this is unlikely to be anything that might get him stuck on our books for a long period of time on Premiership wages and not participating.

Besides, my belief is that it's better for him to go back to the continent. I can't see how he'll ever be able to cope with the top league in this country, so it's better for him to go to a country where he can legitimately aspire to reach the top level. It's best for his own career and development, regardless of what we want.

Antony has had a lot of family issues this year and Dung has hit the nail on the head.
He goes with our thanks and God speed he has a place in our clubs history and we will watch his future with interest.

Great player and a great character. Would have liked him to stay because I actually think he could do a job in the Premier League, and certainly in the Championship if we go down.

I suspect his family problems are a major factor in this decision to return to the continent.

Goes with the best wishes of all foxes fans I am sure.

We had many things to celebrate last season but his goal away at Watford was my highlight. Total goosebumps moment.

I think ultimately its very difficult to judge if he was good enough for this league or not. Players need time to adapt and Anthony was never really given that.

I'm not saying that he should have been or that its wrong to let him go, but ultimately Mahrez hit thr ground running whereas Knocky didnt. This doesnt mean that he wouldnt have cut it in this league though given the chance, we just dont have that luxury.

He made a start against Everton in the first game and was really poor. We barely saw him again until Jan, he started against Villa with Albrighton and was actually very good.

I'm sure he will return to England and if he does I think he could be a success at this level, but we need people who are ready now

He did have two decent games at the turn of the year, but both against very poor teams (Villa at their worst and Newcastle in the cup). I think it was Stoke in his next match and it was back to looking like a kid playing against men.

Skill-wise, he's got it - he's capable of attractive, one-touch football, and that's why I think he could have success on the continent. But in the Premier League you need athleticism - even if you're not a monster, you need to make sure you're not a weakling. I can't honestly see Knockaert significantly improving his raw pace/acceleration or his muscle in order to be able to compete.

Diego Costa did Dunge. He was written off in his early twenties because he wasnt strong enough and got knocked off the ball too easily.....

He really only came into his prime in the last 2 years and has changed his physique and style dramatically.

You cant write anyone off in football. Except for Carlton Palmer of course who was awful

Look at the size of Diego Costa though as compared to Knockaert.

Kramaric (for instance) looks like he can be pushed off the ball too easily, but he can build some muscle and has enough speed in the first place. With hard work and focussed development, he could be an exciting player next season. Knockaert is a million miles behind in comparison.

I don't think anyone is qualified to be writing him off at this level. Pearson clearly felt he had a future judging by the fair contract offer, if he didn't think he could ever make it he wouldn't have made such an offer.

Cazorla?

I can see where Dung is coming from but i really felt he deserved more of a crack at it, especially during our baren spell. NP gave Vardy 20 games between goals and we're being rewarded for that now. It's a real shame but that's footy I suppose.

I'm with BS here. I just don't think we've seen enough of Knockaert to know if he could have adapted to the Prem or not.

I'm pretty trusting of Pearson and his team so if Knocky had shown enough in training to claim the Vardy or Mahrez role he'd be in. The fact he's not to me says something was missing.

But as BS suggests, we could have made the same assumptions of Albrighton whilst he wasn't in the team but he's now stepping up.

We all wish Knocky the best. There's no denying he's provided some great memories and was passionate about playing for our club, and for this reason I hope he finds a club that gets the best out of him.

I among i am sure a number thought that Antony did not have enough to make the step up and would be an impact sub at best. But given the upheaval in his personal life this season he goes as a hero rather than a failed premiership player.

IMHO If we stay up the current squad will have done a great job. However, surely we need to strengthen with better players than even some of those who made the team let alone those who didn't.
Notwithstanding that Tony was a joy to watch in the Championship. Sorry to see him go but onwards and upwards.....

Fosse aka A46 i see major changes in personal this summer we will stay up by the skin of our teeth and the owners will not want that to happen next season

To be honest I don’t buy the argument that Knocky can’t succeed because he isn’t quick enough or not physical enough. It’s a sad indictment of British football if that attitude still pervades despite what Alan Young might state. The physical bit is rectified by some extra time in the gym. The pace bit is harder to fix as no matter what he does he’ll never have that raw ability to outrun people that Schlupp and Vardy have in abundance. So he would have to adapt his style and the type of player he’ll ultimately become. Over the years I’ve seen some pretty slow and not particularly athletic players dominate games from a more central starting position.

Knocky may find that wing play is not suited to his physicality and that a position as an attacking midfielder or a withdrawn forward, is the way to go. He certainly has some genuine natural quality, but would have to work on his game management, vision and passing ability. I think it’s these areas that he needs to work on (he’ll never be the quickest) as, currently, you couldn’t see him affecting games consistently in the middle of the pitch.

Pearson has frozen plenty of players out during his time at Leicester and generally his judgement has been spot on, but this feels different. It’s not NP’s style to talk openly about a new contract, especially if the player isn’t someone he ultimately wants to work with. I’m inclined to agree with Blackstarr that he isn’t playing because our current position doesn’t allow bringing through a player with potential when our style is more suited to players who’ll run through brick walls. If we were established in mid table it might be different.

Knocky has enough natural ability to make you think that he might succeed if he works on his game – it’s perhaps 50/50 at the moment – but that’s not what we need right now. Sad to see him go, but sometimes it’s just a case of right player/wrong time and Knocky needs too much investment just now.

He hasn't had much of a chance this season but hasn't looked a prem player for me. Wish him the very best - been really entertaining.
