Yeah he was awful in that situation.
Sakho could play in that Bayern side and not look out of place, the Bundesliga is a joke and realistically the only 2 competitive games Bayern could have all year are against Real and Barcelona.
Always thought he's an underrated defender. Nesta was my favourite a decade ago and he was turned badly by Ronaldinho. Just thought a Boateng was unfortunate to get isolated one-on-one on pace vs Messi.
Would you still be so lenient if Boateng was ex Arsenal though Sherif?

Another underrated defender. Any Liverpool fan would tell you Sakho is a very good player.

Koscielny has his share of head-in-hands moments, but he's still my best defender in England.
I'd say so he struggled to play in a league where every game is competitive and Lescott kept him out of the side. Now hes part of a domestic and national side where he doesn't have to do much, Hummels was the stand out CB for Germany by a mile at the WC
Sakho is far more proficient on the ball than it seems due to his gangly and awkward looking style. His passes are usually crisp and into feet. Also a very good header of the ball and built like a tank. Very harsh on him I feel - injuries haven't really let him get fully going since he's joined.
Koscielny Is your best defender in England? At least we know to take any of your future comments with a pinch of salt and a hit from a bong...

Was a young player at the time and played fullback. Also apparently had attitude problems. And your Hummels comment is blatantly false. Boateng was MOTM in the WC final for Germany and was by far their best CB through the tournament. He's a more solid defender than Hummels. Easily.

Terry is probably the only defender in the league I'd swap Koscielny for. Koscielny is one of those players that has a weirdly distorted reputation based on past clangers, but anyone with a clue can see he's a very classy defender who reads the game well. The master of the interception.

Thats why Hummels made team of the tournament and Boateng didn't then yeah? You talk tripe you think Koscielny is the best CB in the league FFS

I said he's my best defender in the league. Very different from saying "the best defender" which I already said is Terry. If you think there are many others better than him, you can get off a list.
We should not be suprised as they made the then reigning english champions look like a non league side Forget scoreline it was a game another day it finishes 7 or 8-0 at nou camp.
Terry, Kompany and Cahill are the 3 best CBs in the league.
I'd put Koscielny on Smalling (who has improved big time this season) or Sahkos level personally.
Kompany is the most overrated defender in the league. And yes, I thought that even before this season where he's had a shocker. But that's just my opinion. Cahill just plays with an immense partner and leader in Terry, the best defender in the league by far and probably of the PL era. Koscielny is a better rounded defender than Cahill is.
Kompany was the best defender in the league from 2011-14 until Terry rediscovered his talent.
The fact we had the best defence 3 years running was solely down to him and he has partnered some very average players in that time.
Last time I saw Boateng, he set up Sergio for his 3rd goal against Bayern Munich.
Kompany had 1 great season, 2011-2012. He's declined ever since.
Only thing Cahill has over Koscielny is Terry as his CB partner. And maybe more of an aerial presence.
If someone had asked me at the start of the season to list which players I'd hate to see leave City it would be Aguero, Silva, Kompany and Zabaleta.
Despite a disappointing campaign, my list is the same.
I'd add Hart, Boris, despite some wobbly moments in the past he is now a quality keeper and has worked on his distribution, as we saw on Sunday.
I can't believe your debate for the best defender centres around an overrated (in your opinion) Kompany, Koscielny, and fecking Gary Cahill.
