Peks and IOAG, is there a reason why Real Madrid didn't sign Cazorla instead of pursuing with Modric? I know Luka plays a deeper role, but Santi is more than capable of playing a deeper role.

The reason Cazorla didn't join a few seasons back was that after agreeing to pay his buyout clause, Madrid/Valdano offered him miserly wages (for the club's standards), arrogantly believing the player would accept just because they were R.Madrid. Villarreal got back to Cazorla offering him to become the club's highest-paid player, so he told us to fark off.
Pure speculation, but I imagine his wages might also have been an influential factor in Villarreal's choice to sell him rather than Rossi.
