Schneiderlin: has come out and said he will be leaving Southampton but only to a club that's playing better than Europa League and in England.
------------
interesting, any quotes on this story?
coz if he wants CL and to stay in England it can only realistically mean Arsenal surely?

It will be Arsenal or City I think. He's a brilliant player, too good not to be at a top club!
Well we missed the boat on that Scneiderlin one so no fault but our own. He was desperate to come to us but ah well already knew he wouldn't be coming to us this summer so already prepared for that.
cheers
Interesting......City or Arsenal I would guess, but then he could be a good signing for man Utd too.
Don't see Chelsea going for him

I'm not sure it was all our fault. Southampton point blank refused to sell.

Don,
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but £26m for one player sounds a lot of money.
Look at Lallana, who looked to be the better player from the season before, yet has barely looked like a £10m player.
I'm not sure we would have been happy spunking £26m for Scneiderlin at the start of the 2014-2015 season.
don, are you gonna keep going on about MS indefinitely? its getting a bit boring now mate
its MS ffs, not messi

We put a bid in about a month after they finished their fire sale as Levy wanted to do his usual last minute boll-ocks

we usually sell to buy don't we weare?

yeah weare... I think levy learnt from the berbatov v frazier Campbell deal
infact since then, levy just doesn't sell to rivals.
10 years ago he would have sold modric to Chelsea that time.
Chronic, still a very good player mate that would of been a huge difference to this awful defence this season and could of been a difference in getting top 4

That was 1 signing I was happy about and we still don't know with Lamela. For all you know he could have an absolute stormer of a season next year then I will expect an apology from each and every one of you Schneiderlin might not be the only DM but as proved with our inability to get anyone decent as a replacement ( ie Stambouli) which goes down once again as another awful signing to add to our already ever growing list of deadwood.
I'll never forget me doing an article mentioning how we should sign suarez from ajax and saying how great and " Tevez like" he is. I remenber quite a few Spurs supporters dismissing that idea. Suarez has gone onto become one of the worlds best players in football so whilst you can sit and judge me on my lamela recommendation I can also throw that one in there for good measure
ok don.
fair play on suarez.
Sherwood and redknapp didn't think he was good enough for the prem though couple of plums
Redknapp " we could of signed suarez"
deary me
redknapp was too busy bringing to get bobby Zamora
cracking pro and great family man

Stambouliu cost £4.7m. Not sure a player of that sort of cost in his first year in the EPL can be classed as "another awful signing"
He is clearly a squad player and at that price a cheap one.
The only question you might ask is is he any better than what we could bring through at youth level. Mason came good which is probably why Stambouli has not seen more action.
As for Schneiderlin, it doesnt matter what offer we were making, Saints shut up shop and we could never get him. May be if Poch now was then we could have got the deal done early, but Poch was still settling in so decisions on players would have been probably well after the squad was assessed (and we had the likes of Capoue, Dembele, Bentaleb, Paulinho, and fighting for a CM role)

This is my point and my gripe. Why are buying another " squad" player then? Surely if we couldn't get schneiderlin then we go for a player of the same quality. The fact that you called Stambouli a " squad player" just goes to show our transfer policy is flawed. We sign more deadwood than any other club then find IT hard to get rid. Stambouli was a poor signing and the 4.5 mil price tag Dosent change that
I want to see Paulinho, Capoue and Kaboul go for sure. Maybe even Soldado, Adebayor and Walker. I want to see us sign Trippier, Schneiderlin and another striker if we can.
I don't think it is the best thing to chop and change the squad all in one summer because it will just disrupt the squad even more. I would also like to see us buy from English clubs who have some good players. Would Ings be a bad free signing for us?
