don.
was stambouli really bought as a squad man? bear in mind that none of us could foresee mason's improvement to become a first team regular…….
stambouli would have gotten a lot more gametime had that not happened.. i suspect.
Schneiderlin is also classed as homegrown I believe which makes him appealing to English clubs.
He's a good player, but the way he's hyped up by some on here is a bit much. Southampton refused to sell which they're well within their rights to. Just as I'd hope Levy would refuse to sell ANYONE to either Real Madrid or Chelsea. Ever.
Rather than moan at Levy for not picking up the phone on May 17th or whatever date the season finished, why not direct your anger at the club as a whole - if the scouting department are only aware of 2 DM's among the entire planet that they are keeping tabs on, then they need shooting.

Don't be so down on yourself. We've yet to give Pochettino a real chance of getting us the players he wants in.

From what I've been hearing for a month or two, all is not well between Atletico and Mandzukic. He's scored the goals but it's not quite 'fit'. There's a decent chance he'll be sold this summer and I reckon he'd suit us. However I can't see us paying that much for him.

Wasn't it the Metro, a free newspaper relying solely on advertising, who said Utd were about to buy Bale, Kane and Lloris in a £180m deal? The Metro is a comic, run by the Daily Mail with kids being paid nothing other than the 'chance' to break into sports journalism. Cruel.
It’s all well and good saying we should have got this one, or should have signed that one (re Suarez etc), but we have also been linked to some right duffers in the past. I think we were even in for Carlton Cole at one point. Also, even the best managers miss out on some massive players, Wenger had the option to take Ibrahimovic for £500k and even Ronaldo for £5m before United signed him. On the flipside sometimes top managers sign duffers, like when Fergie signed players like Djemba Djemba, Veron, Bebe etc.
As for Lamela, I’m not sure why you (Don) feel you would deserve an apology from us if Lamela does well next season. We weren’t the ones who judged him before he even pulled his shirt on, we were simply happy to judge as time went by, game by game, month by month or season by season, of which he has been distinctly average – at best. If he comes good I’ll be punching the air with delight and doing cartwheels, but I won’t be apologising for any pre-judgments - as I didn’t have any. I will of course give credit and praise where it is deserved though – as I will also do if Fazio (or anyone else) turns it around.
As for this £36m striker. A) I can’t see us parting with that much money for one player. And B) I can’t imagine a player genuinely rated at £36m would come to us anyway.
That was 1 signing I was happy about

Behave you were full of it when we signed Gomes ffs!!!!!!
IMO no to Ings if we are serious about challenging for top 4 he is simply not good enough for that

TBF, the list of players that would be better than Ade or Soldado is fairly long ........... Carlton Cole would be one but
Ings may not be the latest Carlos Kickaball but I can't see Levy shopping at Harrods so we may need to look at the special offers aisle.

Ok to do that with managers though

Apparently Benteke and his agent want talks with Villa about his future there. He's got 2 years left on his deal there. According to Sky sports he's got a £32m buyout clause in his contract.
Martial is being linked quiete a lot including at Sky Sports. Lloris as well for an exit but we'll see how that pans out.
