I doubt we will sign a CB this summer (could be wrong of course). Genuinely at the stage where I actually have no idea what position we will buy for this summer (not saying we don't need people, but not sure what Wenger will do)

We will need a wide player if Walcott is gonna be used as a CF next season which I think he will be.

Will be criminal if we don't Merts was shameful last season and if Gabriel intends to play often either him or Kos will have to switch their games up dramatically as both are too similar

Think we need an upgrade all together. A proper rock of a defender, horrible to play against. Merts will never be that

He might just promote Gnabry to the first team though.

This is where we miss David Dein. He was always the balance to Arsene. And Wenger listened to him. Its no surprise that we have been always two players short of title bid since Dein was forced out of the club.

Lets hope Wenger will change this summer.

It's still a gamble, I can bet any money we will see Giroud regularly as CF throughout next year, therefore forget about any challenge.

We need a top CF tbh Sterling isn't as good as the Ox anyway so no need to spend what L'pool will probably ask for

I think we will spend big on Cech and a midfielder. And possibly Sterling although I would rather give Gnabry a go.

Which would be stupid and amount to little progress. A CB is vital as is a proven CF I just can't see Wenger trusting Theo fully, he's always hesitant with him.

Cech should cost no more than 15m. Why spend big in MF to overload our strongest area?

Wenger will sign a proper DM this summer. Milner not good enough. We need better if we want to compete. Prefered will be a DM who is versatile.

As for a striker. We can score from everywhere and positions upfront will be changed. So I can see play Theo upfront as well a winger. Dont forget that we have Welbeck as well.

I expect Sterling singning for City, Bats.

If walcott is converted to full time CF Ox should be first choice on the right.

Wilshere, Welbeck, Walcott can all play there as back up. Gnabry should go on loan

Welbeck

When has a team won the league with no elite CF?

We don't have a single one atm

Also Coq is good enough at DM we need backup which should cost £15m tops

We need to bring in a Ozil/Alexis level signing at either CB or CF if we're to compete next year.

We won't do anything big if Giroud & Merts are both regulars next season guarantee it

We won't be buying a CF imo but want us to sign a wide forward. Last year we filled out the squad this season we just need to upgrade where we can, we have a massive squad and are not desperate in any position which is why I'm excited for this summer because I see us only going for top quality.

Who saying that Mert or Giroud or anybody else is a regular starter the next season? You? You dont count?

Every player will face competition. Giroud will face competition with Theo and Danny. Mert will fight with Kos, Gabriel and Chambers for a spot.

Coquelin will hopefully fight for his position with someone Wenger will buy.

As long as no "Özil case" of player comes along the way you could be right.

We have brought too many luxury players over the years, we haven't even touched our spine (this wins you titles)

Coq's emergence luckily helped but there are still 3 parts which need improving, CB & CF most especially.

We will not win the title with Giroud and Merts as regulars that is a promise.

A spine needs pace, power and mental strength. Giroud & Merts have absolutely none of those aspects.

If Wenger doesn't rectify then it's fair to say he's happy with 3rd-4th

The competition isn't strong enough regardless and the fight is non-evident.

Gabriel is similar to Kos so won't be fighting Merts.

Giroud is our only proven CF so the fight with Welbeck & Theo again is non-existent unless 1 of them surprises.

Overall, Giroud will end up being main man again and we all know what that has brought us in the last 3 years in terms of the league.... zilch!

Chelsea - D. Costa
City - Aguero
United - RVP
City - Aguero
Chelsea - Drogba
United - Rooney
Arsenal - Henry

These are the previous title winners with these CF's all at their best.

We have no striker in that calibre, FACT.

See the problem is people like the OP get themselves all bent out of shape based on what they think Wenger will do, and/or based on the garbage newspapers and news websites are churning out at this time of year.

It's similar to the people getting all irate before the cup final because THEY predicted Wenger would start Ramsey on the right and Giroud up front.

It's not healthy. Spare yourselves the pain. There's another 3 months of this crap to go yet.

Also going off experience and what Wenger has said. RVP hasn't been replaced efficiently in 3 years now ffs so yeah forgive me for expecting that to continue.

Nothing more I want than for Wenger to get what we need but it's very unlikely to happen.

How long have we been "2 or 3 players short?"

posted on 4/6/15

Drogba doesn't really score more than Giroud, never really has either.
Just sayin.

There'll be no striker, the DM will come. I don't see a particularly big name though, unless he is an old one. Coquelin has been a revelation at DM and I think no manager barr Jose would turn around and buy in someone to start ahead of him after that.

Anyone equally good or better and young enough to start loads, won't be happy with the bench. So we need someone better than him but too old for starting all season. A natural distributor DM, he doesn't need any help with the ball winning Ageing DMs will be Wenger's target there I think. If he can't get one then it's Coq the starter and Arteta for cover I'm afraid. Which could well be enough if Coq doesn't get a long term injury and doesn't take a knock before the wrong game.

Don't know what the Vidal thing is about, possible I suppose but unlikely. I think the "Big name," this year will be a goalkeeper. Not sure on the CB, if we do sign one, it will be very late in the window dependents on how Mertesacker feels and looks playing, after a hard earned rest.

I actually think Arsenal fans will pleasantly surprised in this window. Well barr the "We want a 40/50mil striker" brigade. They will yet again be livid and staunchly back in the Wenger Out posse because he hasn't spanked 50 million buying their precious CF. The rest of us however will be chuffed that Wenger has spent the 50mil on strengthening the area of the team that's actually costing us the points.
