But yeah, you could put an asterix against that one. Depends how you interpret the question.
Whitney's version is completely different to Dolly's though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That was the point though. I understood it was meant to be tunes originally composed or first released for a movie.
Until The End Of The World has a great soundtrack, but I don't know how many of the tunes were originally made for the film. MAybe even all of them.
Nick Cave's (I'll Love You) Till The End Of The World is superb.
Ah, here we are: "With one exception, the songs were created specifically for the film and debuted in it, although some appeared on subsequent albums or greatest hits albums by the participating artists."
Other great tunes from that album:
Jane Siberry and k.d. lang: "Calling All Angels"
T-Bone Burnett: "Humans from Earth"
Lou Reed: "What's Good"

Dolly did a good job of it in fairness. She was a very good singer.
But there's very good, and there's the greatest who ever lived.

I'll tell you a secret, and that's that that one is actually off tape. She was pregnant and had been advised not to sing live. I have no doubt whatsoever though that she could reproduce an identical performance live.
This is the only IWALY I know of from kind of her prime.
The audio is atrocious, but.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYLM5mU4FeA&t=5064s
and Dolly Parton was there btw.
She comes on stage with her a bit later.
She should have sung with Pavarotti, but Elton John decided to have a "me" moment, so we never got to hear it.
Love you Whitney
