Saw the new planet of the apes and kinda didn’t care what was happening at all. Left feeling I watched the screen and never got beyond that. Felt hollow.

I disagree.

The recent apes trilogy about Ceasar is one of the greatest trilogies of all time. I actually have Dawn as the best apes movie in the franchise.

Agree with Guv here. That was an excellent trilogy.

It's not really a trilogy anymore though. This new movie is the fourth in the series. Making it a quadrilogy. Soon to be a quintilogy if they make a fifth.

It is a trilogy.

The new movie is set hundreds of years after the Ceasar trilogy and have none of the characters that featured in that trilogy.

It's the same way LOTR and Hobbit are two different trilogies.
