spoiler alert...I'd even forgive the jet propelled sharks..but surely crocodiles would have been more suited

It actually makes you look at the original in a different light as well in some aspects.

They had jet propel sharks in roman times

The Menenenedez Brothers on Nettyflex.

Omg they were not guilty all along.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
100% guilty
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of murder? Never.

The 2nd trial was rigged af.

Today, they'd be found innocent, start a #metwo movement and get their own show on CBS.

Free the Beverly Hills Two!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you referring to the series Monsters?

Both brothers defo did it for greed and did not like strict parents. They were in there 20s when they decided to murder the parents. There are other ways to let people know that you were abused.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember when Yasmeen was found not guilty of attempted murder of her heinously abusive husband, Geoff.

Sometimes there's no other way, especially when you have a pair of pump action shotguns lying around.

This is probably what I've got pre 1949 (still finalising the numbers)

The Birth of a Nation 1915
Way Down East 1920
The General 1926
Sunrise 1928
Scarface 1932
A Night at the Opera 1935
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1936
The Adventures of Robin Hood 1938
The Wizard of Oz 1939
Gone With the Wind 1939
Mr Smith Goes to Washington 1939
Citizen Kane 1941
Casablanca 1942
Laura 1944
Leave Her to Heaven 1945
My Darling Clementine 1946
Out of the Past 1947
Key Largo 1948

the last 2 aren't complete certainties, and The Thief of Bagdad 1924, Metropolis 1927, The Roaring Twenties 1939 and The Maltese Falcon 1941 are outside possibilities.

pre 1950 I mean

posted 4 weeks, 2 days ago

and the ones that aren't certainties are Leave Her to Heaven and Key Largo, not Out of the Past and Key Largo.
Other than that, my post was perfect.

See this is precisely why it should be on there. No film in the history of cinema (well since Psycho anyway) has the lead killed off unexpectedly. And it's Steven fckin Seagal. It sent shockwaves round the film-going world.

Maltese Falcon is an absolute cert imo.
As would be Angels With Dirty Faces

Also worth a mention
Goodnight Mr Chips
Kind Hearts and Coronets

Was it unexpected though?

He was locked in a vent with a fckin alien. 3-4 more characters left to die. It was only going one way, soz Tom.

I also have 2 John Barrymore films as possibles, Grand Hotel 1932 and Twentieth Century 1934. He was streets ahead of any other actors at that point.
Damn, Rebecca's an American film too. Another contender. This is tough to get down to 100.

I know Angels With Dirty Faces is well thought of. Not seen it. I like The Roaring Twenties of James Cagney.

Oh mate you need to put it top of your watch list. It's brilliant.

There's a few Cagney films which are very good, but AWDF tops the lost. Has Bogart in it as well.
