Blarmy that side plots thing puts me off slightly in truth. I like intrigue but I prefer the plot in the TV shows I watch to stay on topic and not meander too much.
Seeing a young Capone and Lucky Luciano is good but then doesn't it leave you wanting a TV show about those characters or do they actually feature a lot in the show?

there are many examples of this
such as "play it again, Sam", was not said
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup.
Darth Vader never said "Luke I am your Father". He actually just says "no I am your Father".
Probably the most misquoted thing in movie history.
In Disney's Sleeping Beauty the Witch doesn't say "Mirror Mirror on the wall". She actually says "Magic Mirror on the wall".
Although in the original book (which came out well before the film) it's mirror mirror so it was changed for the film for whatever reason.
Blarmy that sounds very interesting then as I would definitely want to see more of those characters.
I know there are a lot of Boardwalk fans so it must be good but I wasn't hooked after watching it. Maybe that was because I had so many other good shows I wanted to see before that.
Sicario was rather good, solid 8-8.5/10
Deffo recommend anyway
will check it out....
apparently theres a sequel in the works!
Need a new TV series, is Homeland season 4 any good?
I really enjoyed the first two seasons of Homeland but after you know what happened I just couldn't get into season 3 and just stopped watching it completely after a couple of dull episodes.
Don't think I've missed much, never hear anyone raving about the show anymore.
Should more books be made into series ala GoT, or films? I ask ths question as i watched the martian over the weekend, good movie overall but pretty poor when in comparison with the book. Although the adaptation was ok i felt they missed so much, however i appreciate the fact they got it into 2 hours and thus nevessary to cut out huge parts, but it did leave quite a few people who i went with somewhat confused. Do you think this would have made a better series? I for one certainly think there was enough in the book to get 10 episodes, and enough happens that pretty much 8 out of the 10 would have finished on cliff hangers.
Think Harry Potter could have done better as a TV series tbh, ditto Star Wars
Disagree with Star Wars dc, yes there should be loads more stories told but the original trilogy was excellent and the 3 films tell a very good story. Agree with Harry Potter though, again loads that would have given over to an amazing series, and so much missing
Youre never going to get more depth from a movie when compared to the book. Even short stories can jam more detail, personalized or otherwise, into it.
That said yes and no. Loads of novels/series deserve either a tv show series or film series. Trouble is it generally has to be given to a directer/screenplay writer who is a fan of the original written work. Oh, and being good at their job would help (as well as good producers, editors, budgets, actors, etc).
Not doubting that rtm, just felt the martian lost too much from being condensed down to 2 hours, and was actually worse because of it, and lost a lot of the charm from the book. However, you really couldnt have split it into say 3 movies as interest would have been lost. Some films though of course worse than the books can be shrunk down without taking away from the overall story too much, and you can get a very good cinema experience, although i agree with dc that hp could have benefitted from being a series they done a bloody good job to make the films as good as they were. The martian just had so many glaring holes and things that were either ignored or randomingly explained over 30secs - 2mins of badly cobbled together shots and script.

ditto....gotta say last series was probably the best one since the first...if not the best.....carrie it still annoying as hell....but last series as fab.
Dipped in an out of this thread, sure lots of you have already seen it but watched Legend at the weekend. I did enjoy it but was a tiny bit disappointed, it was pretty much what I expected and I’d give it a solid 3/5. It has a slight hint of romance about it although it isn’t anywhere near the cliché comic book level of say your average Guy Richie film.
I’d have liked a little more depth in terms of story line and characters, I think they could’ve been more ambitious there but I guess they have to cater to the mass audience. Tom Hardy was excellent as usual, the contrast between the twins is very obvious and although they’re both exaggerated caricatures of themselves the slick Reg and troubled Ron play off one another to good effect. I actually hadn’t realised quite how unhinged and fragile Ron was before and I actually found moments where he was very vulnerable quite touching and also funny at times too.
A good film, certainly worth a watch but don’t expect too much. I think I’d prefer the Spandau Ballet version had it not been for the wonderful Tom Hardy.

Tim Curry and Tom Cruise are great in it. So sad to see the unicorn with his horn
I actually had about .1 of a second thinking who the hell Tim Curry played.
Don't know much about Outlander. Thought it was more for female audiences for some reason.
