Pretty sure I'd have to disagree on the hairy comment
Adu only had a good 'brand' to yanks with a superiority complex who thought that'd be able to take over the football world without even trying.
Adu ended up being a youngster who was shîte. His young was overshadowed his shîteness for MLS who wanted a home grown superstar

It's the real reason why he left Ghana--wouldn't even make Black Satellites team
And, no, 2006, despite Italy winning and the demise of Zidane by that s%um Matterazzi, and 1998 were better than 2014. The love-fest for the US was over the top--it was like watching Chelsea's CL run all over again. Thank fully Origi and De Brunye put them to the sword.
1998 and 2006 just had so many amazing moments--the Laudrup celebration in 98, France's miraculous defeat of juggernaut Brazil, Owen vs Argentina, Bergkamp vs Argentina (poor Argentina)
2006 felt like the end of a golden generation--Ronaldo, Cannavoro, Nedved, Thuram, Ronaldhino, Zizou, Viera, Henry (might as well have not been there for 2010) and the beginning of a new age (Ronaldo and Messi's debuts; people put Rooney at their level then ).
What made 2014 special was the underdog teams or teams you dont consider amongst the best doing well and becoming fan favourites.
Colombia, Chile, even the USA had a lot of us cheering them on, and brilliant matches with brilliant goals like cahills, rodriguez, spain v holland, usa v belgium and tim howards performance.
Its easily the best football tournament since france 98 which i remember fondly.
2010 was awful, euro 2012, germany 06 and korea 2002 were all pretty standard, only decent. Euro 2008 was good though, croatia were awesome in that one
Colombia and Chile weren't underdogs--Colombia was a dark horse entering the tournament, and Chile were coming off a good performance in 2010, now with Vidal and Sanchez. Howard's performance, while admirable, was overrated--how many of those shots did Belgium shoot right at his feet? The US did well getting out of their group, but had Belgium lost it would've been a travesty. I'm just glad the final was between Argentina and Germany, the two teams with the top talents. The Costa Rica matches were awful to watch, especially their match against Greece.
2006--Zidane vs Brazil; Italy beating Germany with two extra time goals; Ghana beating #2 Czech Republic, Mexico vs Argentina,
2014 was entertaining early, but crap late, and the quality was very poor, probably the poorest champions in memory.
Says a lot when the champion is shown up by two African teams on route to the finals.
But most fans will just go, yeah but they beat Brazil 7-1, but the truth is a pub side could have scored three or four that day, they were an absolute disgrace and cracked under the pressure.
USA 94 was fantastic, except the dreary final, comfortably the best for a long time.
Which euros were in Belgium, when turkey reached the semis, that was a very good tournament.
Euro 2000, Spain v Yugoslavia
Spain needed to win, that kick off they had at the end where 8 players had lined up on the half way line... it's like the charge of the light brigade.
I've watched 7 world cups and I'd say that 2006 and then 2014 were the best that I've seen.
The worst would have to be 1998..... Ronaldo
Really enjoyed euro 96 but that's more because we watched it as a big family and the England side were much more exciting than they are now.
The best international tournaments I've watched were Euro 2000 and also Euro 2008. I still think it's borderline criminal that Holland didn't win in 2000, and 2008 had so many dramatic games

Last year was the best hands down. Sure the KO stages didnt match the group stages, but really they weren't half bad themselves. Who could've foreseen the brazil thrashing?? It's games like those that make World Cup memorable.
People were complaining it's not all that, some just can't accept it at the present moment, till time has passes to reflect on it.
Euro 2000 was the best
============================================
Euro 2000 is the greatest international tournament to have taken place in my lifetime.
Euro 2008 was a great one too. Russia/Netherlands, Turkey/Czech Republic and Turkey/Germany were all outstanding games and Turkey/Croatia and Germany/Portugal were as dramatic as they come as the knockout stages really exploded into the kind of theater that only sport can emblazon us with.
A world cup that often goes grossly underrated is the US world cup of 94 and I think it's primarily because was one of the worst international games ever played (not nearly as bad as 1990 mind which is only fondly remembered as a world cup because of England's "success" at the tournament. It's objectively the worst international tournament of all time taking away the rose tinted specs that the media and many others in this country view that debacle with) but outside of that final attacking fervor and flair really did reign supreme as goals rained in in pretty much every game and every round. We were treated to some outstandingly talented individuals (Hagi, Stoichkov, Baggio, Romario), some truly outstanding games (Romania/Argentina, Argentina/Nigeria, Spain/Italy, Italy/Nigeria, Sweden/Romania, Brazil/Netherlands) and in Bulgaria/Germany one of the world cups truly great upsets. Every stadium was full, the weather was great if suffocating and the US did what they generally do when hosting an event; made it feel enormous, which this one most certainly did. Great tournament.
'98 was one of the best for me, had some great games, moments and Croatia was a good underdog story.
Brazil vs Denmark was an amazing game.
Argies vs Holland and THAT Bergkamp goal .
Holland vs Brazil going to pens in the semi.
Croatia smashing Germany then beating Holland to finish 3rd at their first world cup.
The hosts beating the world champions in the final.
Although last years was immense and takes some beating.
Holland thrashing Spain.
Tim Cahill's screamer vs Holland.
The last minute goal line clearance in the Costa Rica vs Holland game, incredible moment, stands out as much as most of the goals.
Brazil getting absolutely dogged by Germany was just surreal.

They just seemed to be more of a magical thing to a young Felix. Most WCs since have been a bit dull in the main.
Seriously?? 2014 was one of the worst for me, the groups had goals but the knockouts were really boring apart from 2 or 3 games. teams were scared to lose and apart from James and maybe Robben can't think of another attacking player that had a stand out tournament, also crazy that Messi got player of the tournament!
Were people really that suprised at the Brazil - Germany game?
Brazil had been absolutely garbage, fluking there way through the early stages. Germany put them back in their place, exactly how everyone from my memory expected them too.
2002 was a great tournament for me. Papa Bouba Diop giving Senegal a win against the holders in the opening game, Beckhams penalty vs Argentina, that goal from Ronaldinho... that dive from Rivaldo! Germany thumping Saudi Arabia 8-0. A ridiculous referee performance with Italy vs either Japan or South Korea, in fact i think every game Korea had there was shocking refereeing decisions.
All capped off by a timeless Ronaldo performance in the final.
