Not a chance that they did this to generate bets on it. Can't think of any organisation that would report transfer rumours in a way that influences people to bet on them, whilst also owning a transfer betting site........

If this was happening then why would the club delay in announcing it?

Also why would a sponsor be given this kind of information? When we agreed to them being a sponsor did we sign an agreement saying we have to tell them in advance of any transfer we make that's being kept secret?

And if we are contractually obliged to tell one of our sponsors then we're hardly going to go telling the Twitter chimp.
