Do they have FFP in the states though???

FSG can't spend big over here they are not allowed

FSG will put the money in for the Red Sox as they have been totally abysmal and the fans won't put up with continued failure.

Over on this board the FSG apologists roll over and ask to have their tummies tickled while be dangle balotelli in a part exchange deal.

Man City are ignoring the FFP as are most big spending clubs but that rule is all we ever hear about on this board.

That doesn't look like much of a signing, it looks more like lunch prices

The exchange rate must be really really bad at the moment

On August 23, 2014, the Boston Red Sox signed Castillo to a seven-year, $72.5 million contract.

so they're paying him £125k per week over 7 years in wages

there is this thing called google. try it.

Unbelievable that liverpool fans still whinge about their owners' spending on the club...this despite them making an interest-free loan to the club, finally going ahead with the new stadium, and giving rodgers well over £200m to whizz up the wall.

Unless you have a billionaire sugar daddy come along you are simply never going to be happy are you?

yes, fair point, all too easy to wander on here and paint every pool fan as a GB, or every united fan as a hafi.

and to be even fairer it seems that complaining about the owners is the lot of every football fan in england bar the two true sugar daddy clubs, there is such a clear link between cash and success these days that most fans would gladly see their owners go personally bankrupt just to add a single place to their PL position.

and yet most owners take hardly any cash out of their clubs while they own them - glazers are the obvious exception - only really making money when they sell up.

curious!

I just want some better football this coming season, y'know, cos it's entertainment.

Some pot chasers on here seriously starting to regret the decision they made years ago I feel!

The Glazers deserve the equivalent of an Oscar for business acumen.

wouldn't want them as owners but getting other people to buy you a club and you put nothing in is genius.

Kaiser...whats your point? Which 2 players have they brought to Liverpool on those kinda long term salaries.

Also they broke the salary cap and paid $30 million as a result. So the FFP doesnt wash

How much money did you put into the club last season?

I assume it's an awful lot as you seem very irked that you didn't get your badge of honour.

so the entirety of your argument is that one time, for a single highly hyped player, they paid an £18mil penalty to get him.

that's it

nothing else

and this 'proves' that they are investing everything in the Red Sox and letting us get the financial scraps at best

is this the argument?

They sanctioned £35mil for Sanchez and offered more wages than Arsenal. Paid big money for Carroll and Suarez. Offered Suarez £200k a week had he stayed. Bid big money for lots of players who rejected us.

You're peddling a myth.

What exactly are you trying to say Hoe? All I can get from this disaster of an article is that the Red Sox spent their own money on some baseball players. Does that upset you?
