I'm not being a wum, he's not a top 4 / £29M player imo. Said he is decent but not special. If you ask me Danny Ings will do better than him and Lallana/Coutinho are much better than him. It actually is a really weird signing the more I think about it.
Give him his due though, he talks sheight on the manu board as well................
49 goals in 153 appearances for Hoffenheim. That is very impressive for an attacking midfielder. Something we hugely lack is goals from the midfield so this transfer looks to solve that
Apparently he has played lots of games as a striker.for Hoffenheim, probably why his stats look so good.
Largest transfer in Bundesliga history.
I read he plays as a false 9 for Hoffenheim.

What did Gotze cost? Javi Martinez also?
Bild report the fee is 41m euro's, don't think Bayern have paid that for any player.

What did Javi Martinez cost? Sure he was similar? Might have been more £'s but slightly less than 40m Euro's due to the exchange rate?
€37m for Götze which was £31.2m pounds. Apparently this deal is going to be £29m pounds.
On 29 August 2012, after FC Bayern Munich paid the buyout clause of €40 million in his contract, Martínez signed a five-year contract with the German club.[6] He thus became the transfer record in the 50-year history of the Bundesliga.

Bats is reknowned for being both fickle and wrong when it comes to talking about foreign players being linked with and joining other PL clubs - i still remember his "Costa will flop" mantra last year
But i agree with him on firmino - barely any of you heard of him last year and he hasnt done anything to suggest that £29m is value for money or that he is a europa league standard player

decent buy but I have a slight feeling you guys have overpaid. £29ml is an awful lot.
If he isn't hitting 15-20 goals and 5-10 assists then that's a failed transfer in my opinion.

True, we might have overpaid. However I lose track of the number of times Liverpool have spent time trying to negotiate a reasonable fee only for a team offering CL football to sweep in last minute. If he's who we wanted and we've paid the money to get it done early then I don't have a problem with that, it reflects where we are as a club.
Unlike many on here, I haven't seen enough of Firmino to form an opinion. I'm encouraged by descriptions of him as someone who works hard for the team though, we missed the hustle from the forwards that was so evident the season before last.

Depay 25m playing in a pub league
Firmino 21m playing in the Bundesliga

Why? That's only just under £10m difference. You can get a tramp to play for your team for that price before deciding he's crap.
