Bread, potatoes, rice, pasta... I am a fiend. Can eat ridiculous amounts. Love bread and toast in particular and struggle to go more than a day without it
Nuts also for me are the crack cocaine of food !! I am addicted !

On the flip side what's the best way to put on weight?

I've just finished uni and although I ate unhealthily and didn't work out I managed to lose half a stone.

I've rejoined the gym at home and got a mass gainer protein shake but are there any particularly calorie dense foods I should look out for?

You need to get on the Pete Docherty rehab diet, he looked a bit chubby on Friday at Glasto

There was a point in my life where I was actually having KFC 2-3 times a week for lunch for about 3 months straight.

I didn't put much weight on shockingly, but all that fat and grease clearly was affecting my on the inside.

Oh and stopped with the fizzy drinks as well for about a year - Man, I was one unhealthy deck

Heads,
Get in the gym,forget cardio,
Do heavy weights, slowly up the weight, stay away from the machines and use basic training, squats, deadlifts, bench, curls etc.
Eat more,5 or 6 meals a day,up your protein intake.
Sleep is very important also.

I cut out sugar in coffee, only eat high GI carbs(breqd, rice, pasta etc) twice a week,no fizzy drinks.
Only one I cant cut out is beer!but hey I like it.

Went for a yearly checkup and found I had very high levels of bad cholesterol. That pushed me to start working out and eat healthy. I eat bread every once in a while. I substituted pasta with brown rice pasta and rice with brown rice. It was hard to eat for first 2/3 times but you start enjoying it soon. Stopped drinking coffee and substituted with hot water and green tea bag. I drink it 3/4 times a day. I work out 5/6 days a week. Weights and running alternate days. Added more protein and cut down on carbs. It was difficult to start with, but I had a vision of how I wanted to look and target of reducing bad stuff from body. Every time I slack off, I just remind myself of my vision and target. Lost 14 pounds in 4 months.

One more thing which I think might have helped is cutdown on sugar. I never had sugar in my food. Any sugar in diet has to be natural sugar. If I feel like eating sweet I eat peanut butter(organic, no salt and sugar) and apple.

All the best

Damn.. Reading some of your posts makes me feel slightly normal. My diet was absolute crap before. But I have cut out bread now. Trying to cut out fizzy drinks and junk food. Eating a lot of chicken and brown rice now. Upping my protein intake slowly every week to my target which is 200g a day. Doing 20 min cardio in the gym now along side my weight training and I'm slowly starting to see muscle definition now. One thing is true which someone else had already said, eating clean is time consuming and costly. I can see why people don't do it or give up..

Yeah, it is time consuming because you now have to prepare so many of your meals from scratch rather than just grabbing a sandwitch when you are hungry. Laziness was my biggest contributor to weight gain for sure.

Yep it is time consuming but worth it. People need to stick to it as well. You won't results doing cardio and eating clean after just a week. It takes time to see results but once you do, you'll see it was worth it.

Eating healthy is less expensive than eating processed junk all day long. Plan ahea and you can eat like a king on a decent budget

Bread - make your own - it's much easier than you think.
Use spelt flour or wholemeal, you can also add oats, etc. when you make it.

Continued moderate exercise is far more beneficial than concerntrating it all in a one hour gym visit. Always walk up stairs - don't take the lift. Walk to the shops - leave the car at home.
Cycling and swimming are good non-impact exercises as well (this is important, as some gym exercises can impact your lower back and knees)

No way is eating healthy cheaper. You can feed a family of 6 on less than a fiver a meal if you shop at Iceland. If I make a salad with the works and serve a decent piece of protein it will cost me twice that. I could also buy a weeks worth of cereal for what it costs me to make 6 fruit smoothies.

posted on 28/6/15

Yeah. Eating healthy and buying alternative foods is not cheaper plus factor in the time it takes to prepare, it is not cheaper.

As Arouna said, the key is planning ahead what you are going to it, something I have never done before in my life! Doubt it is cheaper though.

Does your protein always have to come from expensive meat??!!

I'm not veggie BTW, but if you are buying frozen goods not already processed then that is not junk....that's smart shopping.

I buy tons of frozen veg. Spinch, peas, cabbage, broc, cauli, peppers, onions, carrots....

All from a supermarket and waste none, salad is not the only way to eat healthy
