woah what a time to take a wicket
Stuart Broad is not effective as I hoped...get another wicket before the close of play...
Like any bowler. Broad would like something from the wicket.. Its just up and down for the seam bowlers..
Now that 1 wicket just turned this into Englands day
Exactly Lefty..
Now, Cook should go for attacking...
Cook really should go for a wicket this session. 5 overs left, pack the sqaure
also to add...Lyon and Watson should be changing their gloves every over
only 1 more delivery left as its 18:30
good days play. England just about in the lead... hopefully sunday will be ok for the weather.. and theres a huge chance of a result..
Now we are in for an interesting day tommorrow..
Lyon to score 50??
interestin end to the day, we need to shuttle them out for around 330 and have a lead of around 100 - the really turn the screw as they have to bat last on it. Moeen for 10 wickets in the game anyone? What odds dyou reckon?
Anything over 60 runs lead is England's game, provided a good third innings.
I still think it's very even. Aussie batting line up is long, and it's a flat wicket.
agree, we're going to have to bowl with great accuracy and patience to get them out for 350 or less. and then avoid a second innings no show when we bat.
what is good for us is that we have the players who can score quickly if they get in, which means we're always capable of putting on rapid runs through the middle order and even down as far as ali. so we have a good chance of leaving aus 350+ with a day to survive on what might become a pretty tricky wicket to bat on by day 5.
So after two days of play, the match is fairly evenly poised with England ahead 60/40 by my reckoning and the game in the balance during this first session of play.
England knock over the tail for not much and they’re batting for a winning lead.
Australia make a fight of it and draw level or there abouts and they are bowling for a realistic total to chase on the fourth innings.
It will be interesting to see how Cook goes about his captaincy in this session. Will he go for gold or stand back and wait for things to happen?
Similarly the Australian batting; do they go for runs or survival?
All will be revealed this morning as 132 years of The Ashes rivalry continues.
Thought the Aussies would run away with it at one point, just say they finished 264 for 5. An early wicket today would be absolutely massive for England.

It's Cook, he will start conservatively. .

I'm not so sure these days. I think Farbrace did a really good job in his interim stewardship of getting a new mindset into the players, Cook included. Even he was scoring at a half-decent rate, given the pitch, and he got out playing an aggressive shot.
We really can't get ahead of ourselves, Starc and Hazelwood could be tricky if the bounce keeps getting more uneven, and I hate seeing the press jump on the "Johnson's shít" bandwagon. He only needs a few deliveries that bounce unexpectedly and he could do some serious damage. He's still a major threat and it's ridiculously early to think he's lost it.
As for Moeen getting a 10fer... get a grip, he only has 2 wickets so far
We're still in the driving seat but one good day does not a Test match win. Miles to go yet. Another top order collapse and we're right back in the mire.
another just about englands day id say...they bat deep and still got a very tricky job to do....anything over a 30/40 run lead i would say is a fab job done.
Only way Moeen would get 10 wickets is if every aussie batter danced down the wicket like the first 2 clowns in Smith and clarke.
They are totally playing Moenn wrong and need to look how WI and NZ played him.
Just Milk him for 1s and 2s and wait for the bad ball just like Hussain said. The aussies seem to want to hit him out which is why they are getting into trouble.
^^^^THATS THE AUSSIE WAY THOU....DOUBT THEY WILL EVER CHANGE IT.....
