Hope Wenger doing the right thing for once and buy at least a big decent DM. Yeah not against a new striker but could not see one who is available for reasonable money and good enough to make the difference when it matters. These players are rare and a lot of clubs looking for these kind of players. Hope for an Özil type of buy who comes along our way.

What's up with Jon Toral? you haven't included him in either list. Is he over 21 yet?

I'm pretty sure we'll sign at least one more player. Doubt it'll be a massive signing like Sanchez or ozil, (but wouldn't rule that out either, if a good deal comes up.) but think it'll be a good player, not someone completely unknown.

It's hard to see what position Wenger will chose to strengthen.

I think we won't sign a striker, unless a deal for a world class player comes up, which is unlikely especially with strikers.

I can probably see us signing in the centre of midfield most likely. I think it's quite probable that Wenger may conclude that one or two of arteta, rosicky or flamini aren't good enough. I won't be shocked to see 2 of them leave. In which case we will likely bring in a player in centre mid.

On that topic. What's the case with arteta's contract? Did he sign a knew one yet? Thought it was up this summer.

Arteta not on the Arsenal list who had left the club. So I guess he signed a new contract with AFC.

Thanks DJ

Seems like we definitely have some space for a couple WC non home grown players.

I think we are stocked in defence and the Mertesacker-Koscielny pairing will be given one more title chasing season together.

Keeper is sorted for minimum 3 years, and in CM/AM we are certainly fine also.

That leaves a glaring squad position opportunity for DM and striker.

Think we are okay on the wings with Alexis and Welbeck suited to the left, and Walcott and AOC for the right.

CF & CB then appear our only chances to realistically strengthen this summer. There aren't many available WC players in both these positions - for me VIDAL or CARVALHO

Up front Giroud and Walcott can do the business to win the title, but if you look at the points Aguero can amass for City in a season, a CAVANI or BENZEMA would help us untold amounts.

No, he is still exempt. He is available, but due to his loan spell where he was mainly a squad player for Brentford, I can only see another loan for him this season.

Arteta was given a 12 month extension. I wouldn't be all surprised if we didn't go for a DM. Coq's stats were far and away the best in the league Jan-May, and it would be a disservice to him to suggest we need a WC upgrade.

£25m doesn't suggest the player is a better one. Will Coq sit on the bench just because he didn't cost this money?

At CF if Wenger values this as his chance to win the CL, then he should sign Edinson Cavani at all costs. We would win the league.

Doing a quick google, It doesn't seem like arteta has signed a new deal yet. Maybe arteta and arsenal are assessing the options, arsenal might be waiting to see how his injury recovery comes along. Arteta could be seeing what other options are around. But neither have officially agreed to be released yet.

If Arteta had a contract wherein an extension would be granted if certain conditions were met then I don't think a statement would necessarily be released?

Best looking squad we have had for a while

I would just add a CF and a DCM and close the cheque book

Or a Pacey winger who can score if wenusenwalcott up front.

But 2 more players in.

We're not signing anymore senior/first team players this summer. Wenger will always leaves us 2-3 players short.

We have all summer to do this and we've had the same issue for 3 years so plenty of time to work out the targets.

The only spanners in the works are that Coq deserves to keep his number one spot so the DM signing becomes added competition rather than a guaranteed starter.

For CF we could consider Walcott but it's too much of a gamble for me given his injury record and the lack of faith shown by Wenger to play him there previously.

I will get rid of Arteta and Flamini. A Lars Bender is the competition Coquelin needs. They could also play in a double pivot system in tough away games where we need to nick a result.

If we could make one big name signing I would love it to be Benzema if he was available. I don't see too many other top strikers available and we don't need star quality in the other positions. I would be happy if we waited until January to assess our options regarding the DM position.

Flamini should be long gone by now. Disgusting that we gave him a 3 year contract

Happy with squad, except for Flamini, the lack of another dm and striker. At least one of those is needed given the usual injuries during October and November

Do other teams do these kind of lists? As much as I'd like to see how we compare, I reckon they don't bother and just wish for signings anyway since its next to impossible to fill up your squad under these rules.

I think there should be a balance in signings. Don't sign a player just to sign, like Spurs and Liverpool have learned. This list helps with seeing where the weak spots are.

Also despite the fact he will probably never play for us, is Wellington Silva not classed as home grown? I thought he signed just before he turned 18?

Not at all saying we should just sign anybody willy nally, the total opposite in fact. We need to stop this mentality of wanting to sign players in order to fill squad depth - I don't see any of the top, title winning teams doing that. We need to sign first team quality, starting XI players. And if what we've got can't step up, then they become the depth.

Yes they do.
Liverpool are 3 players over the limit already, btw.

In Liverpools fairness, come 1 september they could cut any 3 players and not particularly affect their squad strength. Average throughout.
