He's a good player, Leiva, chipped in with a few important goals too. I was baffled when he was never picked for months.
lacks discipline, leaves the defence exposed horribly. somewhat lightweight.
good goal scorer tho and decent link up play
neat and tidy but not much better than kagawa

He was playing regularly (and well) towards the end of the season and LVG was quoted as saying Herrera had won his place back in the team after adapting to his tactical demands.
I reckon Herrera will feature a lot. I think if we buy a CM, he's likely to be someone brought in with an eye to succeeding Carrick.
I think I am one of the few who think we are fine in midfield and attack depending in if we keep our current strikers/midfielders. Defenders is where we are short so I expect 2/3 signings there.
I want to see Pereira make a breakthrough season next season and he signed a new contract so lets make sure he gets the game time he deserves. LVG rates him highly when he signed knew contract.
I'd put him in my starting XI and by the looks of the end of last season so too will LVG. Took him a little while to follow LVGs specific instructions but he showed near the end how important he can be.

My view is Schneiderlin will slowly take over the Carrick role... With Herrera further forward.

Herrera will be a regular next season, no doubt about it. He's the box-to-box type player we need. What impressed me he most last season was how he pushed forward with the ball and actually took the ball from midfield and ran with it. Essentially what Anderson did so well for us.
When Herrera played well we were a lot better last season.
He just needs to add some consistency, which playing regularly from the start of the season should help with, and he'll be an important player for us as he has all the attributes to be a very good midfielder.

Ji, yep and with Herrera in front of them it could work well as a midfield three.
We created enough chances last season but didn't take them. West Brom home and away tons of chances. Stoke away 2 sitters missed. Tottenham away many good chances missed. Southampton home I think Mata missed 2 nearly sitters and 1 good chance.
Chelsea home and away we had enough clear chances to win both games.
Villa away enough chances to win the game.
West Ham away Falcao missed a sitter.
Swansea home and away we should have won both games after so many pinballs in box reminded me of how much better having Hernandez in those positions.
Burnley away RVP missed a big chance and we had 3 presentable opportunities missed.
...........
I just hope Hernandez stays and Depay proves a big hit.
Obviously Schneiderlin, Depay, Di Maria, Rooney and Our Juicy New Striker all start.
Leaving one slot.
Carrick, Schneiderlin (fingers crossed) and Blind give us enough defensive cover in midfield for players like Herrera, Mata and Fellaini to do their thing more offensively. I think we have a good variety to play different combinations in the middle.
Saying that if we do get Schneiderlin I prefer seeing him in the b2b role rather than a direct replacement for Carrick, he's got more in his game than that.
He would absolutely be in my first 11 one hundred percent.
I thought he adapted to the league well, industrious, tenacious and chipped in with a few goals.
He is exactly what our midfield has been missing. What is wrong with some people ?!
Some of his link up play with Mata was gorgeous and you can see his an intelligent footballer. Can see him maintaining a regular slot.
Thats 30 points we dropped last season in what I listed, games we should have won if we took some of our clear chances
