I doubt we'd get much if the reported £8m is right.

Considering other transfers of English players, that seems an absolute steal to me.

I heard its supposed to be 1 to 2 mil. That will go towards new hanging baskets outside the ground.

Probably pay for the new sprinklers.

Is it only 8m reported?? Captain of Villa, England international and good age I would have expected nearer 15-20m at least. 11m for McCormack!

Release clause in his contract according to the guardian.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/10/manchester-city-fabian-delph-aston-villa

We got an initial £6.2m, so if there is still an active sell on clause, it'd be a percentage of the difference, £1.8m.

Most likely.

Wouldn't it be a percentage of the entire 8m?

It could be, I always thought it was the difference.

Sol I know we can't believe much on Twitter but 1.8 million was being mentioned by several people last week so you could well be correct with the 1.8 million figure

You could get loads of hanging baskets for that.

Staying at villa now, apparently.

BBC reckon he is staying, breaking news. Fair play to the lad for sticking with the lesser club

He's got a young family, perhaps the wife (partner) is settled

The other thing is he would probably play second fiddle at City whereas he's guaranteed a place at Villa (and he's getting England calls from there, maybe he doesn't want to jeopardize that..?

Good luck to him.

I sat next to a Villa season ticket holder at last week's Galaxy game where Gerrard was introduced.

The Villan said they really like Delph there even though he got off to a less than impressive start with some wild challenges when he first joined. He has matured into a good player and captain, and as mentioned above, an England player too.

Good for him and them if he has turned down mega wages to be able to play regular football and continue being a leader rather than a bit player.

Aye fair play to him for sticking with it at Villa.

Of course we all know he's only doing it so that Leeds can trigger his release clause when we get promoted!

**** him! He doesn't play for Leeds. He's history.

It was confirmed a while back that the sell-on clause is of any fee above £8m. That said, it was a massively complicated sale with many clauses.

Thought I'd heard that one of our previous owners had cashed our rights to any sell-on fee, for peanuts? anyone else heard this?
