pochettinos signings are boring

I'd love to see us get rid of one of Adebayor/ Soldado and sign a new striker. It's looking increasingly unlikely this will happen. After things went cool on signing Anthony Martial you would think there were other attacking players we were in for

OP
You do not maybe think that most of the available strikers up for grabs are absolute pony, and Spurs do actually have if not the best, close to the best striker in the country, at the club already.

We have done exactly the right thing in trying to improve our defence first.

Im sure we will sign a couple of attacking players before the window shuts and im sure Poch and his staff are aware we need another striker to back up Kane.

in a 4-2-3-1 that poch plays there are 4 forward positions we could be strengthening in.

yes we have a quality striker in Kane, but we could definitely do with so pace on the wings and even up from so we can change tack if Plan A isn't working.

Barn Door has 1 year left, we might get a good season out of him as he shows potential new employers what he can do, I did say might.

Even bringing in a striker could still see us playing slow, dull boring attacking football. Our attacking players lack variety and speed of thought in their play..
We need speedy, intelligent , flair players to inject some excitement, energy and directness to our play.
By the time we are ready to buy we will be left fighting for scraps. Cant say am looking to the start of the season with any great Optimism.

I am hoping for a pacey forward and an experienced CM play maker, Moutinho would be nice he still has a good 5 or 6 years in him at 28

Well yes the signings aren't exactly the stuff to sell season tickets and have fans queueing up at the club shop for their replica shirts. As for us not buying a striker in 2 years, did you know Fergie last signed a CM/DM for United was in 2007?

Aside from that, unfortunately buying quality strikers is costly business nowadays. I'd love us to go out and buy someone and I honestly wouldn't care if they were better than Kane, but there really is a lack of strikers out there that are realistic signings for us (from what I can think of off the top of my head - that's for our scouts to find).

We really do need to upgrade our wide men though and I was hoping for Ayew and Delofeu this summer but it wasn't to be. Again in the market we're operating in at the moment, I'm struggling to think of players we'd pay the required sums for.

WAT ambition?

We may win the net spend league again but that's about it.

Already the top 4 from last season have cemented their place for 15/16. Does not matter how many signing we make, we will still be playing catch up.

Our squad is too young and it will cost us. 5th at best next season. z z z z

Tottenham can take Arsenal place in the top 4. Fine margins and all.

how refreshing to have a manager come in, look at what the problem is, and attempt to sort it out (unsuccessfully so far, but i am hopeful for this season)

scoring goals, isn't, and never really has been our problem.

since i have been watching spurs its been the defence that has been the problem.

we need the defence sorted out once and for all.

oh and dele alli is an all round cm, and very dangerous going forward

its been nearly 2 years since we signed a striker!

----

thats because of Kane… CF is no longer a priority position for a starting first team place.

i apologise if kids graduating the academy and going on to be class is boring, but i would prefer to make our own quality players rather than buy them in

i bet you had a hard on when we signed soldado

Benteke, Lacazette

---

is that benteke who explicitly said he doesn't want to come to spurs…

and lacazette who its just laughable to suggest that we could sign?

might as well add benzema and neymar to the list of good strikers out there.

we need a DM. as i said above, scoring goals isn't a problem. our joke defence, and the lack of protection in front of it, is the issue.

5th would be a very good season.

this article and the comments following it are largely laughable.

young side with loads of academy boys in the squad to be proud of, but everyone is bored because we haven't spent 30 mil on benteke to come and sit on the treatment table

Another striker or forward should be a priority. If Kane was to get injured or suffer poor form, we have two absolute wasters ready to take his place.

I'd like to see us try and get Berahino.

no. a DM is a priority.

we have a striker Kane.. he may get injured, but at least we have one.

we don't have a single DM, and until we address it we will continue to leak goals for fun.

personally i would go nowhere near berahino.

The point I was making was that the top 4 have all strengthened which will solidify their positions next season. Yeah 5th would be good but how can it be very good if there is no progress?

Yeah I know we have lots of young potential but against teams with proven quality in more positions we will finish behind the same as last season.

It would be a very good season(excellent even) IF we can break into the top 4. Yes we still have over six weeks to do business in the window but as Levy said in fb a while back most of the business will be done in the last two weeks.

Until then the teams with more clout will get stronger and we will be left with the scraps. Fear not!

Both a forward and a DM are needed, but Kane getting injured or losing form would hurt us more than anyone else going through the same. Maybe Mason can improve on last season? Or we can try Dembele?

Berahino would make a good addition. Lots of potential that I think Poch could get out of him, and would fit into our system better than say Austin.

Spurs need a striker and defensive midfielder end of story. We need these as priority positions now our defence is sorted. Would happily take MCCarthy from Everton and sign Berahinio or Austin. All perm experienced british players.

obviously.. thats how it works… money = higher wages and better players.. why do you think we are building a new stadium and tied up nfl deal? its not for fun.

until then we have to stay as competitive as possible.

and the window doesn't shut tomorrow

i don't want berahino for the following reasons.

1. hes not that good
2. considering hes not that good, west from would demand silly money for him. probably 25mill.
3. he comes with baggage

Reports suggest we are chasing young Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi.

I had really hoped we would sign this lad a couple of seasons back before he moved to Marseille

Not the big star you crave, but young forward with great feet and cool finish
----------------------------------------------------------------------
lukaku / bony type signing… pick them up before they come to the prem, because once they start performing in the prem they become out our price range..

that is the kind of signing we should be making.
