I think Twitter is great.

The downside is that it allows morons to directly contact famous people.

I think that's a relatively small price to pay for the good of it though. It gives people a voice, it allows incredibly fast information and critique of information all in one place.

I find it much easier to find out news than trawling through newspapers or different websites, and you can follow the people who you trust to be accurate and keep you in touch with good blogs and stats.

A lot of the 'offences' shouldn't be a police matter as its a waste of their time to chase keyboard warriors the vast majority of which are not going to really hurt anyone. Twitter just needs to get better and banning people who are offensive to others.

I don't like or use Twitter, the levels of abuse and/or inane comments/re-tweets meant I never really got on with it as a tool.

However, I do see it has a purpose. A friend of mine is a journalist and he says Twitter has revolutionised news. Never before have we had such easy access to first hand accounts of incidents all over the world. You don't have to wait for a BBC correspondent to arrive there anymore, footage is available almost instantly.

Maybe the idiots on there are worth the price of that speed of news. It's certainly popular enough to suggest that's the case. It's still not for me though.

These anti Twitter people are like those in the early 19th C who scorned at cars and stuck to there horse and carts.

I am 34 and don't want to be one of those 50-60 yr olds who doesn't do modern technology and has to get my kids to do everything for me.

Much better to keep up with the times.

There's a difference between keeping up with the times and trying to be ahead of the times.

It’s true that Twitter has revolutionised news, and there’s an element of democracy in it, too. But it’s not for me, there’s a whole ocean of inanity on on it.
Don’t know why famous people go on it, they don’t even have the protection of anonymity.

Michael Owen said that all footballers get death-threats, all the time, from nutters. It seems the Police have ways of knowing when it’s worth taking seriously.

It’s just that Twitter allows everybody else to see it. It’s a bit disturbing to see the petty-minded insecurities that are swimming around in some people’s heads, but that’s true even on here, and maybe it’s best that we know.

One effect it does have is to de-sensitise people. I find that pretty much nothing is shocking any more, when it’s online (though having said that, online bullying has caused one or two people to top themselves).

I loathe the middle classes as they are too cheap and are only interested in money like DJ off here. Working class people are ok as long as they're kept under control and moulded to be useful not reprobates. It's the upper class who made this country great and for the most part ruled Arsenal, though we're gradually being replaced by those who have made their cash by corrupt ways

WTF????
And which class do you belong to?

(PS. The finance for Arsenal's move to North London was raised by Henry Norris, a middle-class crook, and hero of the Man City board).

I will fold those Man City fans into origami.

The underclass by the sounds of it.
