Just beat me to it Blackstarr.
Good to see I'm not the only one nervously scouring twitter
I'm not sure this is a ringing endorsement of Ranieri given he reports that he was originally set to stay
There were also reports that he and Ranieri didn't exactly see eye to eye..
Not sure a 21 year old kid from Chelsea is an ideal replacement. We need experience with ability in the midfield.
Prawn, yep plenty of stuff from inter fans about their relationship. Ranieri didn't really play to his strengths and he ended up in tears apparently after being subbed at another home game.
I really am starting to feel that the owners have made a huge error of judgment this summer, both in their dismissal of Pearson and in his replacement. Could be costly
I guess it's a moot point that replacing Pearson with Ranieri was a bad idea. Even if it is patently obvious.
Not overly fussed with Cambiasso, as it was always going to be a short term thing, but we desperately need some quality central midfielders.
Just ignore me how long have i been saying this?
No ones to blame.
Ran his contract down despite being offered a new one year contract last season said he's goodbyes. Wants a new challenge awaiting offers while on holiday in Spain
No one is to blame?
Was going to sign for Pearson, now hasn't.
I think that there is blame there somewhere. Just shows that Pearson could bring in players and even te best enjoyed working with him.
I wish Cambiasso all the best (how could we not) and agree it could only have been a short term thing. I was desperate for him to come in as a coach though which would have made me much happier with the Ranieri appointment.
I hope he doesn't sign for another prem club though, that would make me like him a bit less.
Maybe the USA?
You'd be getting a very good young player in Ake at least though
Aww Nev, do you want a hug??
By all accounts he was set to stay, a lot of trusted sources have said this - so what's changed?
If he had made his mind up at the end of the season, why, 2 months down the line do we not have official confirmation.
Because it's not been a straight forward decision that's why and the managerial merry go round, as trusted sources suggest, has influenced it
Unfortunately I guess this is the news we were all expecting but fearing.
So with 3 weeks to kick off we have Drinkwater, King and Hammond for the central midfield spots. With Cambiasso's no, James' injury and Kante not showing any desire to want to sign for us, things are getting desperate in this area. Somehow a kid on loan from Chelsea doesn't fill me with much confidence.
Maybe I'm doing the lad a disservice but Cambiasso's boots are big ones to fill.
I accept it's very early days, but Ranieri hasn't done anything yet to convince me that he will do anything positive for us. Yes it's only been a week but clearly Cambiasso didn't fancy coming back with him in charge.
Pearson had many faults, but hiring quality players with the right attitudes wasn't one of them. I'm fearful that if we are not careful we will be heading down the road of signing expensive players with attitudes that stink. A situation Pearson inherited and had to address when he came back with the likes of Mills and Beckford. This approach will in turn destroy the whole team ethic that has served us so well over the last few years.
I really hope I'm wrong and hate to be pessimistic before a ball has been kicked, but I really fear for us this season with Ranieri in charge.
A couple of shrewd quality signings next week would be much appreciated.
BS saw a txr saying goodbaye to one of the staff the day his contract ended was offer a contract before then chose to run his existing contract down all facts not conjecture or rumour
Bad news about Cambiasso but we need to move on. Let's not forget that he has not had a formal pre-season so it's debatable whether he would've been ready for the start of the season.
With James injured, we currently have a central midfield selection of Drinkwater, King and Hammond. Whilst these have their own qualities, we have to accept that this is not a strong CM. I'd go as far to say that we probably have the weakest CM in the Premier League right now - Watford and Norwich have strengthened and even Bournemouth have a wider range of options.
We need 2 midfielders before the start of the season - a defensive midfielder who can break up play (Kante fits this mould) and a more creative or box-to-box midfielder. Palace have just signed one of the best midfielders outside the top 6 for about the same as we bid for Austin, we need someone similar.
Ake is a good prospect but we need more than other teams youth players. As a bench player, fine but not as one of our starting two.
Nev - The only thing I'm saying is that very trusted sources confirm he had accepted terms with NP here prior to June 30th for a 12m extension.
The word from the Leicester camp (and John Percy and Rob Dorsett are on personal terms with the coaching staff) was that they were quietly confident he would stay. Something must have led them to believe that.
The delay in confirming either way has co-incided with the managerial sacking.
I'm not denying you've seen a text but equally let's remember how we knew that Pearson had been sacked in Feb. Rob Dorsett was called by one of the coaching staff. No one on this board was any the wiser. How did we know Cambiasso was being targeted by Leicester last year? Agent leaked it to the press.
Therefore you'll understand, given their recent history for getting some key things right, I see no reason to doubt trusted sources on this occasion......
Fact ran down contract.
offerednew contract before end of season fact
thanked the man who looked after him fact
Said he needed a new challenge in same txt fact
went on holiday and still is in Spain fact
Your trusted sources are from news paper jouno mine the players minder who do you believe?
He never excepted terms BS
Lots of facts on this forum recently.
Mersey sorry getting wound up
So Cambiasso it seems is off, or is he? You know what I don't really care anymore. Yes he had a great season for us and this coming season would probably have been after the Lord Mayors show anyway. The club will still be there Cambiasso or no Cambiasso. On wards and up wards.
If he had accepted terms with NP at end of season why did he not sign up then.
Clearly he had not accepted the contact or he would have, which is still possibly the case.
"No facts were quoted in this post"
Nev, your facts didn't come from Nicholas Winterton MP by any chance did they? Or was it Nicholas Winton, I forget sometimes
Sorry pal, only joshing
If he's gone then all I can say is Thank You!
I'll never forget that Man Utd game and seeing Esteban Cambiasso in a Leicester City shirt scoring against Utd and so obviously pleased about it.
Short and sweet but brilliant while it lasted.
PS I heard via text message that he is going with NP, they are setting up Leicester Utd as a new challenge.
Only joking Nev, it's Leicester Fosse.
"Your trusted sources are from news paper jouno mine the players minder who do you believe?"
I believe the select journos that have called it right on a number of occasions over a forum poster whose only successful prediction thus far involves a camel and the local weather in Dubai....
In all seriousness I don't doubt you've seen a text, but I would respectfully suggest you may be drawing your own conclusions on a number of other areas that the text may not cover, particularly involving any verbally accepted terms offered by the club and negotiations with his agent.

No one has suggested he accepted terms right at the end of the season. There's a crucial timeline here.
NP confirmed that he would give Cambiasso time to mull over his future in May. That's exactly what he did. An offer, as Nev says, was put to the player and apparently terms initially agreed BUT remember how many agents are involved here. How long did it take to eventually sign a 12 month contract last year? You can agree initial terms in principle, but the process of the clubs and players lawyers, agents and ownership arrangements, agents fees, release clauses etc takes time
My point is, right in the middle of this whole process, the club sack the manager and that, according to many sources is what threw a curveball into discussions.
