The price of PlayStations seems to sharply decrease when the slim model is released, so you might want to wait until then. The PS2 got its slim model 4 years after release and the PS3 got it just 3 years later, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a PS4 slim in 2016.
Generally get other benefits too such as better hardware, less noise, less power consumption and more mature technology that will likely be more reliable. Plus a better library of games, many of which you can get fairly cheaply.
All good reasons to wait a year then. Especially as the PS4 isn't that much better than the PS3 anyway.
Certainly not the step up that the PS3 was on the PS2.
Wait till black friday got my ps4 plus driveclub + the last of us for £300 from game last time.
Sony have just recently released an improved PS4 reduced weight and 10 percent lower power consumption, the most notable improvements http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2015/06/22/new-lighter-ps4-model-available-worldwide-later-month/#/slide/1
I think it is fair to say the longer you wait the more value the system will offer, but by the same token the longer you wait the longer you miss out on what next ten offers, there are many games that simply cannot be done on the PS3, it depends on how long you want to wait to play them.
Also with Morpheus releasing next year could be another reason to jump into next gen.
Overall you aren't going to see a drop in the main selling console. So for example the new 1tb console will pick up the same price point as the 500gb consoles, and theses will drop by 50ish quid. But yeh black Friday bundles ftw.

Just using ps3/360 as an example we never saw significant drops until over 4 years into the cycle
Yeah still think my plan on waiting a year or more
is probably best for me, although I'll definitely keep an eye on what happens on Black Friday.
I've still got too many good games to get through on the ps3.
FFS slim model and a terabyte hard drive , thanks Sony .
I reckon Sony should stop facking its customers over and let you get the upgrade for free.
Will anybody realistically use 500GB worth of data?
Or memory, that should say
Well games are 30-50gb so add in Ps+ that is pretty much a necessity now a days I would say easily after 2-3 years
Hitler's comment is typical, I take it he was an early PS4 adopter like me, it's not like Sony forced us but demands now that whatever deals come available later should somehow be backdated.
This was never going to happen and if he didn't realise that when he bought it then all I can say what were you thinking?
My hard drive is near on full Amiga , Have about 11 games in place , what's with the massive download files there facking huge.
Hitler what has that got to do with anything, if you want to upgrade your hardrive it's easy enough,
You can't blame Sony, you knew what you were buying, I would hope at least.
Extra HDD space is always good for having things like movies or TV shows on it too.
Extra hard drive space is always desirable Hobo, if you want that on the PS4 it is easy enough to do.
Seen it @ €350 in argos in ireland ..(lowest ive seen it)
Most other outlets are €400 but games are decreasing in price (second hand)
Amiga does the ps4 allow an external hard drive ?
As a lot of forums are giving diffrent answers .
the PS4 supports external hardrives, they aint all that expensive either. I was kinda waiting on the PS4 to bring the TB version out but it took too long so i buckled. In terms of no difference between the consoles im sorry but you are wrong. Especially right now the past 3/4 months we have seen more bang from our buck in the titles. I know the two games i am playing the most at the moment the previous consoles cannot run (Planetside 2 and Project Cars).
PS Amiga...... Rocket Cars is awesome .... just awesome !! 8 player matches with you friends rule !
Thinking of getting a ps4
My phone contract is up and I can actually get a slightly better contract plus a ps4 for ten pound a month more than I am paying now.
Even if you factor out the slight increase in data that I'd get from the new phone contract it's still only going to cost £240 over the contract for a ps4.
Which seems like a good deal to me.
yeah good deal matt, also i will strongly recomend those who can get the ps4 for this xmas comin up there are 2/3 really special titles comin out later this year for the PS4. Fallout and Metal Gear WILL be special no if or buts. They are the mega AAA+ titles there is also gonna be Rainbox 6 and Ghost Recon that could be pretty epic.... is The Division out this year guys ? Iv got a wee suspicion i aint ginna like the division funny feeling that might have Destiny written all over it and not be the game it has us belieive it wil be

It didn't but the 2.50 software update fixed that issue so you can indeed use an external hard drive, as Delboy rightly pointed out.
Glad your enjoying Rocket League Delboy, I know a lot of people absolutely love it, some people are quick to dismiss the games on offer from PS+ but there are some real gems, Rocket league a perfect example and a game you would probably never have heard of if it had not been available on PS+.
ne defo i game wouldnt have bothered with its good to get a game on new release for free that is retailing to everyone else for £20 i think ? But good honest fun game ... not over complicated and to be honest after a hard nights SIM racing its really cool to just chill out with the guys you wer on track with and get rid of the stress and anger from our league races. There are two guys we race with that I swear are the lovechild of Schumacher and Messi on Rocket League (actually seen a team mate of mine ride up on the roof of the arena and drop down on the goal to save a shot using the double jump and boost..... it was a total "pick your jaw up of the floor Del" moment it has all the hallmark feelings of Destruction Derby ... just old fashioned FUN !!

The game is simple but there is certainly plenty of skill involved and like you said just old fashioned fun, BTW The division has been pushed back till 2016
