Initially I was against us going for Benteke probably because I was looking for a none existent Suarez clone. However the more I look at it I think Benteke will be ideal for us and he will bring our wide players and midfield into play.
Good signing for us and Villa did really well to get 32.5m for him.
I think the fee is fair based upon age, prem experience, goals scoring record and the fact he is a striker. Particularly when you consider players like Soldado were £26m
What we can do with it is another matter
The other advantage is the space he will create for others and Liverpool have the playesr to take advantage of it and we didn't.
He's different to Suarez (most are!) in that he is an out an out centre forward where as Suarez can be pretty much a one man team to the point he can get on the end of his own passes. Players like that are very rare.
I would think of Benteke more in the Torres mould, but certainly not the Kuyt mold
Always said he was a good signing, those saying its another Carol are deluded. He has so much more to his game.
Time will tell if I am wrong, but at the moment, I'd be more than happy with this signing.
I actually think the fee is probably the going rate in this market.
if Man City paid £28 million for Swansea, £32Million is about right.
He is an upgrade to Bony imo

To ge the best out of Benteke you need Gabby Agbanolahor with him. That way you'll terrorise defences in the EPL and Europe. Go on Liverpool buy Gabby for 30m.
He's really great!
I don't mind about that transfer request he put in.
Before that you didn't hear a peep out of him, and Spurs must've given him reason to hand in a transfer request.
He handed one in - as opposed to going to the media and calling in sick!
When nothing transpired, he withdrew it and knuckled down, keeping Villa up.
Red you're right but at the time we were unsure because of the fact he went on strike and refused to play for Genk when we first showed an interest before we'd made a bid.
Perhaps not in the Sterling school of transfer diplomacy, but I think he as just the same sort of agent. Who got duped incidentally by a Villa fan pretending to be BR!
I far as I am aware you lot offer quire long contracts to players eg 5 years on good money so shouldn't be an issue.
He certainly didn't sulk on the pitch for us at anytime
Good article. I was not feeling the Benteke vibe but you dont have to like every player your club is linked to. At this point I just want it done as soon as possible. Welcome to Anfield Mr. Benteke.
I'd agree that although Benteke can be used as a target it's not the best way to use him. In his first season with us he used to drift wide quite a lot and that made it difficult to keep track of him; give him space he's quite good at picking out a pass for others; Weimann scored a couple of beauties against MU after being set up by Benteke.
Biggest weaknesses; sometimes too static, can stand still demanding the ball when he should be moving into space; hopeless in defence eg when marking somebody at a corner, which can give opposition strikers a free run; sometimes sulks if the opposition defence manage to keep him quiet (can lead to red card situations).

had enough of this with Mario!
Don't think he'd be called to defend much, rather he be halfway up the pitch waiting for the ball to control and play Firminho or Ibe in
Black Andy Carroll. Seriously not the sort of player to fit into Rogers philosophy bòllox and seriously overpriced. Looks like more Rogers transfer genious.
Black Andy Carroll
fixating on his heritage with your first word on this article.
Chelsea fan no less.
Wonderful player, as good as any forward I have seen play for Villa.
Not sure Liverpool the best move for him, but I think he should do well.
I am surprised Chelsea didn't come in for him because he is very similar to Drogba.
Brenda knows nothing about Benteke Transfer
There's more realism to Emmerdale

Nice try at the race card cretin, but no cigar you snidey little scouse no mark
Sorry to rub it in, but looking at the L'pool threads, they can't even be bothered opening one about Benteke.
Shows you how much he was valued at yours and how much he is valued at theirs.
I can't see him making much of an impact, maybe you'll get him back at a knock-down price come January.
Good luck with the coming season 'coz even Blues fans were begining to wince for ya and that same feeling is coming again before the season has even started!...
