I'm travelling back from Leeds but I'm hearing on Talksport he's given an interview on Cambiasso. He's pleaded with him to stay and needs an answer now
This has been in the news all afternoon apparently
----------------------------------------------------------------------
BS - It was a Club press conference in general not just about Cambiasso, he was asked and said he'd rang him to ask him to stay, Sky reported that the Club were hopeful he would stay, Ranieri also said Cambiasso had lots of offers but we need an answer so that we can plan the new season ( or words to that effect ).
He also stated his target was to achieve 1 more point than last season, although this was explained by him more as a gradual improvement as the target so I don't think we should take him literally.
Susan Whelan refused to answer questions about Pearson.

Probably not available on top of a mountain in Peru ..... well as my article was posted early this morning my suggestion that a telephone call between the two was obvious seems prophetic.... I heard about it yesterday - no big secret
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you heard about it yesterday, why did you suggest the blinding obvious that one "would be taken" rather than was taken?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Poor effort JG. If you're claim to be ITK you've got to do better than predicting rainieri will make contact with Cambiasso
Nev I've never said you were wrong
Largely because there is a surfeit of " I heard" information on this board - but of course I had no idea that Ranieri would make it official today in a news conference.
BS to answer your point - not intended as a scoop - only to negate your point that relationships between the two would prevent any progress on a contract - quite the reverse was the truth - a dead and buried contract discussion was revived
"a dead and buried contract discussion was revived"
How do you know that?
It certainly seems from the Club information as though negotiations have continued.
It certainly seems from the Club information as though negotiations have continued.
They aren't negotiations they are attempts to get him to come back He says he wants a new challenge and are we really that?
Nev's information and postings on this subject were well documented and based. Although the club continued to voice willingness to proceed -all signs -see article- were negative and contact limited to his agent.
Since Ranieri and his direct contact -Jon Rudkin - who is now very much in an ascendant position at King Power- has been very involved in trying to capitalise.
Personally I hope it does not detract from other targets
no one can say negotiations were dead and buried and anyone who says that is speculating based on limited info obtained
We can only say this;
1. NP gave him time to consider future
2. Press say Cambiasso initially wanted to extend for 12 months
3. Nev says his son has seen a text message from Cambiassos phone in June saying he wants to move on
4. Press say in July that he is now waiting to see who the new manager is before continuing discussions
5. Agent confirms last week they have yet to make a decision
6. Ranieri appointed.
That's all we know
"and contact limited to his agent"
That's what agents are for. Same last year, all contact through the agents who become the point of contact once any contract renewals are discussed
However you look at the Cambiasso saga, you have to question his motivations for taking 'this long' to sign.
What on earth other opportunity is he looking at that means he's once again happy to miss half a pre season?
Why does he not commit to someone, anyone?
It's strange if nothing else.
Or is he waiting to be head coach at Inter Milan?
I would imagine that he's decided to move on. Either this was decided some time ago as Nev suggests or he's been waiting to see who will come in before making the final decision as other sources suggest.
He hasn't made a decision yet because as of last week agents were still in negotiations with other clubs. Leicester will likely be his back up should another deal not come off.
Thats my guess.....
I don't care, it's Esteban Cambiasso, Esteban Cambiasso!!!!!
I hope we're not getting delusions of grandeur?
