It's obvious to any football fan that Barton has his issues but in my opinion he is a really good midfielder. I replacement for Esteban no but still on a year or two contract I'd take him.

Flamini could have been a good option but he's off to Galatasary I think

Jeremy Toulalam would be ideal. Worked with CR at Monaco, fantastic talent, not gonna happen though

Nampalys Mendy. Haven't we bid formhim already? Worked with CR at Monaco and even at his young age, is a natural leader and commands huge respect from his teammates. He sounds perfect.

Yeah Mendy or Kante would be very good, I think we've submitted an offer for Mendy, but not sure.

Definitely not Barton, not the right sort of player. .

Barton has been relegated twice with a team whose dressing room was an absolute nightmare, I don't see him as a replacement for the calm, cool and knowledgeable Cambiasso

Barton's no Esteban, but he's both skilled and a scrapper - the sort of player I hoped Drinkwater might turn out to be. I'd certainly take him, notwithstanding his famous temper and general oafishness.

His attitude, failings out and belief that he's better than everyone else outweighs the benefits he brings on the pitch. We had a fantastic team spirit last season and that's a big part behind why we stayed up. Bring in Barton and that's gone. There are tons of players at are better than him......and won't get sent off every other game

I must admit I haven't seen him for ages, thought he was class when Arsenal first brought him back. Didn't last though I guess?

sadly not, he doesn't fit the prem anymore, off the pace and commits a lot of stupid fouls

Would have thought Huddlestone must have a buy-out clause and is happy to be in the Midlands. Not the ultimate choice but better than a number of the options already mentioned.

Good shout on huddlestone he's one of those that when he's good he's very good but seems to sulk a lot
