Schweinsteiger has picked up an injury so will not be involved and imo probably wont be in the side against Spurs.

Lvg said that Valencia is the first choice right back so I reckon he'll start against Spurs if fit.

I don't think he could say anything else to be honest, wether he is or not.

posted on 25/7/15

He didn't need to say anything. But seemed weirdly outspoken that Valencia would be first choice this season.

I guess so, I do think Darmian has been bought as our first choice given he is a natural right back. But maybe LVG will allow him to settle for a while with Valencia steady enough to do a job.

I also hope Darmian is first choice. Valencia is a mistake waiting to happen there. Will be interesting to see what happens with DDG. Just wish it was sorted. Looks like we might be losing him for nothing.

We'll get Ramos, then DDG and his crew of Spanish friends here at United will romp to the title and he'll sign a new contract instead of leaving on a free

LVG does have a disturbing amount of faith in Valencia. During his drunken end of season dinner speech, he mentioned that Valencia had been our best player last season. I'm also fairly sure that he played more games and minutes than any other outfield player last season

Will be a very tough game for us, I can't see a result at this stage, the only plus point will be the fact that you have to gel your team around new signings, think United will have a good season if you get another striker

He said Valencia was our motm when we lost to Arsenal in the cup even though he was responsible for both their goals. He must have got confused and thought his assist to Danny was a good thing?

Schweinsteiger has picked up an injury .

Schneiderlin is a decent replacement with Herrera

I do get the feeling Bastian will be a problematic signing regarding picking up injuries. Can see him being nursed through the season in order to play the big games.

posted on 25/7/15

Well lets hope BS doesn't keep getting injuries.
IMO we shouldn't bother signing anyone over 30 now.
Build for the future.Ramos and Pedro will do nicely.

So someone who is 30 in March is ok but not now?

It's not the age but how the individual is physically. Some 30 year olds will be in better condition than some in their mid 20s, everyone is different.

People are going OTT about 29-31 year olds being to old we had giggs and scholes 2 of our best players play in late 30's.

posted on 25/7/15

Hafi actually making a valid point. This idea that once you reach a specific age means you are past it is nonsense.

Yes most players will begin to decline in their late 20s but every player is different. Being 30 doesn't make you instantly worse than being 29. You have to take into consideration a players condition which like I said will mean players aged 30 can sometimes be in better condition that someone younger.

Iron

You said yesterday that we needed to be more like City and Chelsea in bringing in youth players but then failed to list them?

buying Schweinsteiger was no different than buying someone like Gerrard

*****

except by then they were 2 of our worst players

At the age Bastian is now Giggs (2004) and Scholes (2005) still had plenty to offer United and for a few seasons after that. You do realise Giggs was 40 when he retired, he was as close to 30 as Luke Shaw is now.

But like I said, every player is different.
