I still actually haven't seen an Xbox One
I know 2 people who have one....
In comparison with the 20 or 30 plus with PS4's
Although Sony have been pretty dominant up until now, I predict a very strong last quarter for m$.
Halo will give them a boost Simon, but their reliance on that one franchise will only do so much, as I said people are tired of the same old same old.
I know they have other things and will make a splash trying to gain the christmas market (as they always do) but long term you can't really look past the PS4 which will only go from strength to strength not just in sales but software too.
Not doubting this at all Amiga, just pointing out it wouldn't surprise me to see m$ with better final quarter and holiday sales is all. But at the same time I agree with Sony's "plan" not to release any 1st party games in the last qtr due a very very strong 3rd party line up. Though the game with the worst name in history could certainly sell a few ps4s
I prefer the Xbox on. The UI is just so much better, (its getting a major update soon as well) its got some good games coming out soon too. I've had mine for over a year and I don't regret buying it over the ps4.

who you trying to convince?
Simon I think MS will continue to lose ground, The PS4's dominance will only grow as potential xone customers switch to the PS4 because of marketshare and the advantages that brings (among many other reasons)
It's no longer a race, the only question left is how far ahead Sony will finish.

Pretty certain thats what most people said last gen with the 360. Ultimately a lot of people end up with both, I know I will and I'm looking forward to playing the exclusives
And dude you buy a console based on the dash
Last gen was very different to this one Simon, 360 launched much cheaper (at least at first glance) while the PS3 launched packed with high tech which unfortunately made the PS3 expensive, launching right at the start of the worst recessions in decades was always going to be a tough road.
Sony pulled ultimately pulled it round with great software support and innovation, this gen MS has released a weaker console under the dark cloud of DRM etc while also trying to charge a more (initially)
many gamers might buy both, but many won't especially since you will now have to pay two subscriptions, I certainly don't buy based on on the dash, but the quality on offer and it that respect this gem is an easy choice.

I'm not convincing anyone, not a fanboy. I just decided to buy a Xbox One instead of a ps4 but that doesn't mean I hate the ps4, just a preference. Don't need to go around convincing everyone that the ps4 is the best thing since sliced bread.
Dash wasnt aimed at you but a some what ridiculous comment above.
And to be honest I see exactly the same situation. A badly launched console leading to the other gaining in sales much quicker than the other be it price or promise of drm. 360 stayed way a head of Sony for 4 years out of the seven. You could also argue m$ has a strong list of games planned, and if done right could certainly even things out into the forth year if Sony take their foot off the peddle regarding games (though I don't think this will happen). And regardless of performance for lowest common denominator 360 and ps3 were the same which overall they were and same is easily said for ps4 and xbone........though apperarently the dash is much better

Prob best to say that as your original comment suggests you bought the xbone over the ps4 because of the dash :p
Tumbleweed the PS4 is certainly not the best thing since sliced bread, but it is the best option this gen as far as power and performance goes.
The reasons to buy an xone over the PS4 this gen are very limited which is why the PS4 is selling so well, like I said the choice this gen is an easy one (for most gamers)
Simon I agree with a lot you say but this gen is a world away from last gen, Sony pulled it back last gen for all sorts of reasons.
MS has neither the hardware, software or developers to turn it around.
I certainly agree it is a different beast as the new ips were fresh and gave more reason to go 360 initially. Sony didnt really have anything except what GT which kept on getting delayed and killzone .
And the price was a huge factor, I agree there are few reasons to go xbone at the moment if you are torn between the 2, but Halo lovers will flock there at the end of the year, and GoW will also be a big plus for any fence sitters who arent that keen on bloodborne. It certainly is a strange time as my purchase was based on what will happen in the next 2/3 years rather than now, and the differences between the 2 are pretty minimal. But like i said i will certainly get an xbone in the next 18months i would imagine.
I think Xbox's first impressions ruined the Xbox One before one was even sold.
All that not being able to use second games or whatever it was?
However like it was pointed out with the previous gens, 360 started incredibly fast with PS3 lagging behind, but towards the end PS3 dominated and most people i knew who had an Xbox eventually switched to a PS3.
So people decided to buy a PS4 and it will be Sony's to lose imo.
The only people I know with Xbox's are die hard MS fanboys
Can't figure out what Simon meant by the game with the worst name in history
Sony had a lot more than GT Simon, Sony had far more ip's, the only reason the 360 appeared to have more (at least early on) was it had a years headstart.
the 360 didnt stay the course because the PS3 simply had more value.

I never said I bought the Xbox one because of the dashboard. It said it has a better UI, hardly stating I bought it solely for that reason.
Amigawolf, power doesn't make the console better, last gen the Wii you was by far the least powerful console on the market, but it sold the most. Also most games played far better on the 360 than the ps3, even though the ps3 was a more powerful console.
Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, LBP and of course uncharted all came out very early in the life of the PS3 and those are just ones off the top of my head, in fact I would go as far to say I enjoyed the first year of the PS3 far more than the first year of the PS4.
Sony made a lot of mistakes with the PS3 and one of them was alienating third party with the Cell tech, but as a console it offered a hell of a lot which eventually enabled it to pass the 360 in sales.
Like I said Simon this gen is a world apart, the aces belong to Sony, MS are playing a very bad hand.

I think power is a good indicator of a consoles potential, the Wii did very well (my kids enjoyed theirs) but it was based on a fad (motion controls) which was never going to last, As Simon has already pointed out the 360 often performed better not because it was more powerful just easier to program, the PS3 showed it's real potential with 1st party games with TLOU the pinnacle of last gen
Horses for courses mate as i would find very few people who would have bought a PS3 just for the games you mentioned, especially with the 360 so much cheaper. I am talking the big big boys, as for every Motorstorm you give me i can give you Forza or Project Gotham, For each Warhawk a Chromehound etc, and lets not talk bull buddy, it was nothing to do with the tech of the PS3 that allowed it to pass the 360 but a far better marketed system with overall far better 1st party games at the end, and making all the right deals and at a far better price, and other great benefits like PS+. M$ basically ran out of games.
Tumbleweed the Wii sold only because it was so cheap and not because it was the best console. I bought 3 myself and that was because i kept giving them away to people and i think you could buy one for like £75 new. As Amiga suggested this was the kids console, and to be fair was always the console i suggested for families with kids, as a console it was pants with only a few games being worth while. The Wii U has shown what happens when a technically very poor console shares the same price bracket as their competitors.
