UFC had an even last night and the first fight with flyweights was the perfect example of how a fight on the floor can be exciting. Ray Borg vs Geane Herrera.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Johnson got robbed. I had it 30-27 on the scorecards, there is no way that Dariush won the fight.

Would disagree, a little. I had Johnson winning but 29-28. 1st was easily Johnson, second was pretty even but Johnson for me just took it, 3rd round though he just hit air and ate knees easily one for Dariush

3rd round could go either way but I gave it to Johnson due to Octagon control and defending the takedowns with ease. There is a case for Dariush winning the 3rd but he didn't win any other round at all. Got dominated in 1st and 2nd round, even got rocked once too.

well I had Dariush winning! He had Johnsons timing the entire fight except for when he was caught. That jab was making Johnson so sloppy and had some nice legs kicks going. No idea why he stopped them though.

Defending takedowns doesnt get you anything. Its good for you as a fighter to defend them but wont count as points. And of course he would have octagon control against a counter puncher. You dont see Machida losing fights because he doesnt have control. I thought it was a smart fight from Dariush in the end and was actually very surprised at the backlash. Felt it was from the commentators blatant favourtism and Johnsons petulant reaction.

Before I even heard the decision, I knew for definite that Johnson was going to win, he controlled the whole fight, he even rocked Dariush too. But when I heard the official decision, I was shocked. Even Dana White said Michael deserved to win. Dariush was exposed today.

Tika, big difference between controlling the fight and just throwing punches and walking forward, only in the first round did Johnson control the fight. There after it was pretty 50/50, with arguably Dariush get the better significant strikes in round 2 and 3, honest round 3 Johnson threw God how many punches and landed less than 10%, and I don't think any would have been classed as significant. Dariush was continually landing jabs and knees from round 2, so certainly not as 1 sided as you are making out.

I'm late joining all this, just to throw my opinion in on a few points;

I'm a fan of both MMA and boxing, though on balance I probably find MMA to be slightly better entertainment in general, but nothing quite competes with the excitement of a real 'big fight' in boxing....

Strangely I agree that the McDonald v Lawler fight was overrated. In my opinion - it was the least entertaining fight of the night, it was pretty much a jab-fest. Plenty of damage done, but no real excitement for me....

Borg v Herrera was a great, entertaining fight, with momentum constantly shifting and lots of clever submission attempts. And I thought Johnson deserved to win too, though not by a huge margin.

Right, that's me up to speed....

The best part of that fight was when Rory nearly stopped Lawler with a barrage of punches but Robbie wouldn't go down.
