The Lampard of the Championship.
He has improved a lot in the last couple of years and a run free of injuries may well have been one of the factors in that, and I think he gained confidence from the easier level of League One. He has always been hard working but his passing has improved and his running off the ball become more productive with experience. His set up of the first goal today was top draw and the run he made to get into the position to score the second was also impressive. And he must surely be the fittest player at the club and nobody was getting around the pitch more than him in the last ten minutes today. Have to say I wasn't a fan two years ago but certainly am now. We can certainly put someone in to the team with more flair and skill but would do well to find someone that contributes more to the team.
He's a king-pin in the side. I have to admit that his goal today was dubious, as his reaction to "scoring" clearly showed on the TV highlights. In a way that is testament to his character, as far as honesty is concerned.
I posted a while ago mentioning how good a signing Edwards has been. To be fair there are only criticisms from one or one persons abroad who never actually watch him, so I don't think such criticisms are valid.
I'm sure the esperience of Edwards will be important to us this season, more than ever.
Haven't changed my opinion, always thought he was a quality Championship level player. Still think that.
Is a valuable squad player but will be surprised if he is a regular starter when we are up and running.
Did well today it seems but surely isn't the 'plan' for left midfield when all is said and done.
Big respect for him though, an excellent model pro and the young guns will learn a lot from his ball busting mentality.
Had major computer problems today and finally had to go and buy another one. Fortunately I backed up my stuff on a hard drive and was able to transfer everything. Got worried about my comp.
Anyway, as far as Edwards is concerned, it's true I haven't seen much of him over the last three seasons, but saw all the games he played when we were in the Premier League. My stance on him has been based on those facts, plus he was a member of the double relegation squad. I would have hoped he'd improve in the third flight of our football and he has found a good vein of form over the last two seasons.
He will have to be more consistent for me to go as far as a U-turn, but the signs are he will do well again this season. Whether he remains a starter will be judged on his consistency and what system KJ plays for individual matches.
I'm reading that KJ himself states that with the diamond formation we played today, suits his style.
So time will tell if my overall opinion changes this coming season. We still have Wallace to return from injury and this lad Ojo who is a left sided player.
My jury is still out on him.
Oh and Bute, I've probably seen him just as much as you have over the last three seasons, especially as you don't go to games even when you're a darn sight closer than we are over here.

My thoughts exactly.
always thought of him as a good squad player that i wouldn't like to see us lose, similar to what i think now of henry.
the last 3 years he's improved on that and now should always be either in the team or on the bench to bring on,

100% agree.
I haven't changed my opinion on Edwards. I always thought he was misused by previous managers.
He has always been good at getting into the box and getting into scoring positions. He is not so good when used in the centre of a flat midfield four. The last few seasons he was been used in a role that gets the best out of him.
He is a good Championship player and will be a good player to have around the squad (for use as an impact sub and as an older experienced head) for a few years should we ever be promoted.
He was very injury prone with leg and back problems but now seems to have overcome the problems. many say he's a box to box player and he does have a lot of energy. But as you rightly say Tam, he's a good Championship player and this, I would suggest, is his best level. When we go up we need to replace him as he'll be past his best as he's 29 now.
It will be interesting to see if he gets an extension to his contract during this season.
I can see Eddo getting a new contract, especially should we get promoted.
From all of the reports that I read, Jackett seems to appreciate what DE brings to the team.
I see Eddo getting a new contract, especially if we DON'T get promoted and that'll be 12 months at most.
Remember what we've been told Cyp. You cannot form an opinion on players unless you've SEEN them play, not read in reports. Surprised you haven't been picked up on about that.

Uh?
I think it is quite obvious you don't have to have seen games so long as you are in agreement with a certain few, then your opinion will not be questioned.
^ cinci's latest successful attempt to sound utterly pathetic
Nowt pathetic at all, just a simple fact.
Contract extension as reward for Edwards' good form:
