Oh, I see, the Chronic pain in the butt is back again!
Now Grand's point is that Levy does buy players and its not his fault they dont work out.
Well, two things to that, points I have already made here:
1. Levy refuses to pay top dollar, so he doesn't get the best players. He get's stuff that's past their "sell by" date.
2. The Spurs scouting is bull-f-kng--sss-shit. So Levy often buys on bad advice.
One other thing, Levy is good at selling our good players!

Thudd, you might have lost your passion for Spurs and football mate but not all of us have
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm a realist, it's the same old every season.
We'll finish outside top 4
Half decent cup run
We won't drastically change anything till we generate revenue from the new stadium and NFL partnership
Then my expectations will go up,
THudd
I am ever the optimist. Whilst you are probably nearer the mark, I don`t think gifting the opposition a way back into a game from 2-0 down, with 15 minutes left hardly helps the cause, and has nothing really to do with revenue or new stadia, it is just piiiiisssss poor play. Cut out the silly mistakes, and no reason why Spurs should not be competing now. I really do not see too many big hitters, in what I consider a very poor prem now. City look good, but along with all the other English clubs, once they hit the European trail, they are always found to be lacking in real quality to take on the big boys across Europe in both European Competitions.

Strange reasoning Ted, especially as we went out and broke our club transfer fee record 3 times in a matter of weeks two years ago.
Levy relies on people like Baldini to advise re who to bring in. Baldini is just about gone, Mitchell will then have a clear field in which to operate.
Unfortunately we as a club have to balance the books as a business. This is why we sometimes have to walk away from deals.
As for getting players past their sell by date, that was Harry's style, not the current management's.
We cannot compete currently with City, Chelsea or Arsenal in terms of wages, CL football etc, only when we are capable of doing this will we be in a position to attract top drawer talent.👍

I agree with Weare, teams like Stoke, Palace, Leicester seem to really put it in, OK they don`t win every game, but the always seem to put in more effort than Spurs, who just stroll about for most of their matches, expecting things to happen.

Agree and disagree, but I hate the old classic "Oh why didn't we sign Cabaye, why didn't we sign this player, etc, we should spent £15million on this player"
It's not football manager, I won't spend all my life moaning about who we should play or sign, it is what it is, we're restricted by the fund we have and the way the clubs run
Only when the club generates the millions of pounds profit from the NFL partnership will I expect success, right now with a 36k stadium which is out dated with some players stealing a living

I would like to know how other clubs sign players for 2-5 million who have the heart of a lion and we sign players for 33 million with the heart of a mouse
Unfortunately I have to agree with you on this Weare!
Weare, there's a huge risk element when signing a player, because on paper and history (say Moneyball stats) there's a chance he could sink of swim
With Lamela at Roma he was class, goals, assists, he was dangerous he's come to us and he's been poor, and I mean really poor, I would prefer to see Townsend play because at least he goes at defenders and commits them
We're now seeing lesser named players come in for a lesser fee because of the risk, Njie, not one person has seen him play before but as he's young, quick, can finish and he has resale value he'll be an assett
everybody was waaaanking off when we signed soldado and lamela…. you included weare….
wise after the event much?

I share these same sentiments.
Some posters get on at me because I sound as though I've got nothing positive to say about Spurs which is false.
However I've accepted the likelihood that with things the way they are, we're not likely to get into the champions league for the next 5 years or so. We'll do ok but we won't get to where I want us to be. So while I might be a bit annoyed at our transfer dealings, I'm not going to burst a blood vessel over it because I've accepted things for what it is - as Thudd stated above.
Ledleys
It's a logical thought process and as you can see from the transfer policy at the club
Kaboul, Vlad out - Wimmer, Toby in
Capoue, Stombouli, Paulinho out - TBA in
Soldado out - Njie in
We're running an incredible tight ship at present, there's no room to spend 30-40million at the moment
I am seriously not enamoured with N´Jie.
A player Lyon were hardly reluctant to let go and was not even in there top 3 of players. Umtiti, lacazette, fekir being much more important.
I think we are backing Poch with a certain type of player and this will be ourdown fall sadly.
You want a squad that no matter what happens it will adapt to whatever tactical apporoach there is.
We shall see though. coys.
LLM
I see him as a lesser risk on Soldado, there's not much hype, he's young and unproven and they'll be no pressure, and like you say Lyon just rolled over and sold him with ease
"he's young and unproven and they'll be no pressure"
Until he makes a mistake and fans get on his back

The mandate for the foreseeable future I suspect is similar to what Arsenal had, albeit at Europa league level:
- Maintain the current standing (top 6)
- Develop your own kids
- Buy a few more kids/unknowns
Champions league football is a pipe dream right about now I suspect. Unfortunate for me as I hate the Europa league as it currently stands, but I'll have to suck it up and get used to it methinks.
However, that doesn't necessarily mean we have to wait until the end of August to be active in signing players.

I agree with OP , Whomever is responsible for allowing us to start the season with one striker needs there head examined .
Austin is perfect for us plays nearly identical to Kane so should buy straight in to Poch,s tactics it ain't hard we only play one way any way.
Also any one have anyways going on with Ade ?

Players needed to leave before we could sign Eddie my old china
Anyone can see that, it's been a constant trend, all though I do agree why we had NO striker on the bench Saturday, it was a criminal decision, should have another youth team striker there for back up
