It is poor that we have only had 1 striker going into our first 2 games. But let's also not forget that players like Chadli and Eriksen hit double figures last season, so it wasn't a complete risk. I do feel that we should have purchased a striker or 2 much earlier. But as long as we bring one more on top of Njie in as soon as possible, we can pick up our season. People are forgetting that most teams would have won after taking a comfortable 2 nil lead, so this wasn't exactly a loss due our lack of strikers.

I'm going to throw out a really odd suggestion for Levy - How about doing ALL the business early?

spurs fans throwing tantrums again
----------------------------------------------------------------------
pot kettle...you do more than ya fair share of moaning....

hes right...no one is saying superstar signings....but only having 1 striker going into a season is pathetic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I moan when warranted. for example, I moaned at poch on Saturday for bringing on lamela of all people when trying to close out a game.

nonsense

Lamela is never going to cut it in the prem.

He's got the body of a 12 year old boy he isn't strong enough he just needs to be sold.

Lennon and Ade if there not in our plans get rid of them..

well i think moaning that we only have one forward is more than reasonable.

we need a gaffer thats gonna lock horns with levy a bit....not cowtow to him.

Takes time to sign someone, it;s not football manager

Soldado sold - New striker in within days,
---------------------------------
Your not getting my point. I've clearly stated that our targets should have been signed before the first game of the season. meaning if soldado was sold we would have options.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've never run a club, so how can anyone moan and say we should have done this or that, football does not work that way, it's not as easy as you think

But I do agree we should have had another striker on the bench for the first two games, even if it's a youth team player

3 points against Leicester is starting to look essential, even though that isn't going to be an easy game at all. There could be a large gap already if we only draw that game between ourselves and many of the teams we were in around last season. And then we'll have Europa coming back afterwards which will probably screw us in the bum again.

We had a massive squad and it just wasn't logical to stock pile more without getting rid first. What would then happen If we couldn't get rid of the deadwood..It was frustrating having "targets" disappear before our eyes but the strategy to sell first was absolutely the right one.
Levy has his faults but some of our fans should live in the real world!

This is a bit of an over reaction after two games which could very easily have yielded 4 points ......... it's not like we were played off the park in either game.

In an ideal world the window would shut before the season started in which case all business would be concluded beforehand, it's not as if Levy didn't warn us that some business would be concluded late on in the window.

As for Leicester, we'd better win coz I'm going

For the first time I am coming around to join the 'get rid of Lamela' school of thought though.

Thudd i do agree that it is very difficult in running a club however there is no excuse to have just one striker in a 25 man squad to start the season. Alarm bells were ringing with the fans, this is not hindsight, many people were saying it before the start of the season on this very forum.

Im not suggesting at all we should have bought him but even someone like crouch who doesnt even get in for stoke could have come on yesterday for us and no doubt we would of seen the game out.

As soon as Kane went off we dropped deeper and deeper, it gave stoke license to attack and with spurs being fragile we just invited unnecessary pressure. I'm just surprised we didnt lose the game in the end.

I know and it's highly frustrating, I wish for one season someone would let Levy loose and think fack it, let's make a loss and buy loads of decent players

Facked up with Aguero
Facked up with William
Facked up with Leandro
Facked up with Moutinho

posted on 17/8/15

There was no Aguero deal, that was made up. Willian chose more money after agreeing to join us initially. Damiao.....Lol. Moutinho was agreed, as always 3rd party people stuck their noses in it, if it was a matter of a few million then yeah we should have just handled that.

Damiao looks like shiiit but under a manager that wants him and speaks the same language, who knows how he may have fared. Hulk looks shiiit too but seems to perform well under AVB.

We had to offload before we bought!

Simple economics really, we cannot afford (unlike some clubs) to have dozens of players on our books.

Chelsea for instance have 25 players out on loan.....................................and are probably paying most of their wages too.

Part of the problem has been shifting Ade, on !00k a week he is a major financial liability & that impacts on how much we cann afford to pay others coming in.

Yes it is frustrating, however I have been a Spurs supporter for 57 years, so I am used to frustration & false dawns!

Hopefully we will see a bit more movement over the next few days, at least I hope so!

There is business and there is business; Wimmer for example could've been done at any time in the window, late or early. A new striker however is essential business and essential business should be done in a timely fashion. I have no doubt the departures of Ade & Bobby were earmarked in May, so to go into the second game of the season with no back up for Kane is highly amateurish IMO. In fact I'd go as far as to say it cost us two points.

We appear to be laying down smart long term strategies off the pitch, yet on the pitch it's the same old last minute bargain basement nonsense. We've brought in a lot of youth with potential which is great, but it has to be integrated with a bit of experience and proven quality - that's what this squad is crying out for. There are no leaders, no experienced winners, and of course no back up for Kane. I'm not panicking as it's still early but we've left ourselves a lot if work to do on & off the pitch to get this season going, which was totally unnecessary.
