does stones want out arouna, must admit hes conducted himself great, not like reheem
good on the bitters i say
Everton keep rejecting these bids because why would Stones want to move to a smaller club
<Laugh> The BU think Bill is lining his pockets #deluded
Chelsea will no doubt continue their pursuit of Stones.I expect their next dirty trick would be for John Terry to come out and say that Stones can smell JT's fingers after every players and WAGS night out.
Was subbing Terry anything to do with this, to try and say to Stones that he will play and is needed in the first 11 straight away - I wouldn't sell him at all to Chelsea and I wouldn't sell him to anyone else this season, too important
Fair play to Everton and their stance on this.
However have they put a price on Stones (34 million?).
If that is the case Chelsea will match it before the window closes.
it would be a mistake going to chelsea, they ruin young players same with city
The big premiership clubs generally spend big and buy the finished article or young players they know are already top quality first team players. The young players 'ruined' by these clubs are usually young players with 'potential'.
If you aint a big premiership club then young players with potential will get first team football, this is the difference between the top clubs and the rest

Who said hey have put a price on him? If so then Martinez should state is he is not for sale.....for anything less than £34m
Without wishing to patronise Everton, it is difficult for them to turn down a £35m + offer.
They aren't going to get into the CL, a decent Europa league run is only worth £5-10m (and jeopardises your league form), and equally they are not getting relegated, with or without Stones.
So you don't want to lose your best players, but how much is he actually worth to them? I'm sure they can reject £20-25m bids, but will they really turn down a £35 to 40m one?

If Everton accept say £35m then Barnsley get £5+ which leaves £30m,any player we go in for to replace Stones will be sold to us at an inflated price.Ashley Williams is about 30 yrs old and Swansea will be looking at £12-£15 million for him.If we get 4-5 yrs service we would be lucky.
Stones has potentially 12-14yrs playing time,so you can easily see why Everton want to hold onto Stones
I think Everton holding on for more than 30m is a perfect example that small clubs have caused this pathetic trend of price inflation for transfer fees. It's despicable that most fees are averaging 20-30m. A decade ago that would have bought you a proven world cup or champions league winner. Nowadays it doesn't even buy a young player with very little experience or proven pedigree.
Smalls clubs bought by billionaires are one of the biggest problems with inflated transfer fees.

I did hear an everton fan on the radio the other day claim that kenwright would sell at £35m + because he wanted to net £30m after barnsley took their cut, though i think that was guesswork rather than an insider scoop.
I take your point, but I think you have signed one £20m player in your history - did anyone other than Lukaku even cost more than £15m? - so even with current transfer fee inflation £30m + must seem very juicy to big Bill.
Without wishing to patronise Everton, it is difficult for them to turn down a £35m + offer**
Why is it? you just say no, if you mean financially then the game has changed now with the tv money and its made it more of an even playing field, the only way it will be difficult is if he asks to leave....

Wow - i'm actually speechless. Which is a rare thing where do you start picking the bones out of that masterpiece?

Because of the relative size of your club, your last reported revenues were 1/3 lower than Spurs', so financially you are closer to Swansea than you are to any of the big clubs, so it becomes a lot harder to turn down a transfer fee that = 25% of your annual revenues.

To replace Stones with an older more experienced defender at an inflated price so we have say £15-£18million left is just kicking the can down the road.
We would not be able to get a like for like player in age, experience but more importantly quality wise.As I said the surplus money would have got you more than 1 decent player a few years back, now £15-£18 million buys very little.
Unless we have a decent player coming through to replace Stones then Everton need to keep him for at least another season

How much do you know about Everton's finances? we can turn down any bid we want to turn down...
I'll be pleased when this story is finished and the window is shut, getting a bit tired of other fans 'expert' opinions on our club and our players
Still struggle to see where the club have put a value against him, all they have done is reject the silly low offers and tell Chelsea he is not for sale.
