Sakho

Tbh, Lovren hasn't been horrific in our opening few games, but I'd still want Sakho in the squad regardless. I wouldn't feel comfortable with Can and Toure being our go to men if Skrtel gets injured.

Is it just possible that Sakho isn't in the squad at the moment because he's just had another baby and the rest of it is just media nonsense?

It is but not being in either match day squad whilst not starting preseason games whilst bids are being made doesn't look good in my opinion.

Hendo's mrs had a baby last season and he played in the cup against Blackburn the very next day.

The baby excuse is weak to say the least. She was born on August 4th and he posted a photo of the baby with him on his Paris trip on August 12th, so its not like there are any problems with the baby's health or it wouldn't be travelling abroad at 8 days old.

Read an article that compared hendos birth and sakhos, hendo was back in a flash and played while sakho took 3 days. The implication was that one has the right attitude while the other, sakho is not as professional.

Same with enrique and balo apparently. I like this getting rid of un professionalism, if that is what sakho is like, then good on br and his team.

It depends really.

You have to have a balance of strict professionalism and treating players like adults.

Ultimately what matters is how they perform on the pitch.

No good having 22 great pro's if they can't play football.

Being perfectly honest, I'm not gonna shed a tear over any of our centre backs leaving. It's been a weak are for us for a long time now, we've not hat a rock solid partnership since Carra and Hyypia.

Admittedly, that is in part due to us playing a much more offensive style, whereas Rafa's team was more defensively minded and offered the defence more protection.

However, I wouldn't say any of Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren or Toure are really top level defenders, or even have the ability to get there in the future.

They're decent Premier League defenders, but that's about the limit for me. Selling one of them wouldn't be like losing a Hyypia, Terry, Maldini or Ramos let's put it that way. Any of them can be replaced without too much fuss.

Another test Igor, and I agree entirely with your comments, is to ask: which one of them if any, would get in the top five teams? Sakho maybe, if Lady Luck smiled on him. The others, not.

That's it. The aren't bad players, even Lovren and Toure. But I wouldn't say any of them would be stand out players in any of the top teams around Europe, hence why PSG were willing to let their young captain leave.

Don't agree with this, just because he took 3 days doesn't make him less professional

There's more to this than meets the eye

Must be some sort of trust thing or broken promises because picking Lovren over Sakho doesn't really make footballing sense.

I agree with Hoody

Can & Sakho could be our best CB pairing.

I also think the reason why Sakho doesnt play is because he may be a bit too left sided as a defender. I hardly ever seen him come over to the right side of defence to sweep up behind Skrtel or cover him....which could be the reason why Rodgers doesnt want to play him.

Sakho started in our 4-1 beating by Arsenal and our 6-1 ass whooping by Stoke.

Saying that Lovren and Skrtel started plenty of other losses but not by that margin but maybe Rodgers has seen something that he just doesn't fancy.

Be abit harsh to put the blame on sakho, its not like he was making all the mistakes that caused us to concede

It would be if someone had yes.
