the reality is, if LVG thinks we can win league titles or compete for the CL ( which a club this size should be) with the likes of Rooney, Hernandez, Berahino, wilson and fellaini, then the guy is a bigger fecking crankpot than i first though

Wow, the lad has been here a matter of weeks. Give him some time to settle in.

Even if it cost us top 4? Nothing wrong with stop gap replacements or taking gambles on young English talent.

The bigger risk is signing nobody. Who we do have aren't on form and if we got 1 or 2 injuries it would be embarrassing.

West Brom reject written transfer request from Saido Berahino

Some people on here seem to think there's no risk in keeping what we have and that it's more than good enough to secure top 4. That's a dangerous risk to take as Liverpool have bought well and could very well take 4th spot from us.

We have a great chance to add one more talent to our squad to push ahead of Liverpool. If not we obviously still can get top 4 but it's more of a risk. Why take it?

we shouldnt be looking to claim top 4 though, we shouldbe pushing for the league, and we are 1, if not 2 at a push from doing that.

The club have been bragging about how much money we have to spend... instead of bragging about it, get out there and spend some on those players who will take us to the next level.

As it stands, net wise, weve been outspent by the likes of Sunderland and Newcastle so far this season.

Anyone think that Utd are either unwilling or unable to spend quite the amount that some think?

Tbf it's easy to say you should be pushing for 1st. But you haven't showed it yet.

Probably the best explanation for our offering £100m+ for players we're never likely to get.

I think this is exactly what we are trying to do but the very best players are the hardest to sign. If we spent £150m to sign Bale or Neymar would that make fans happy on here? Would it feck!

If the cub feels we can get the remaining one or two players that we need next summer then I see no point in signing a lesser player now who:-

1) would still cost a fortune
2) would eat into our budget for our first choice target next summer
3) would need to be offloaded next summer (for a fiver, knowing us!) and
4) would affect the development of the youngsters that everyone keeps saying need game time.

No title winning team was ever built from scratch in 12 months. A few years ago it would have been unthinkable that we would sign 5 or 6 new players two summers in a row but that is what has happened! Surely it can't be the end of the world if we don't sign 8 players in one window?

Think about it, what chance has any top club got of signing 7+ players of the right quality in one window? Yet people are calling Ed and the manager clueless if we don't achieve this.

This transformation was always going to take time. Everyone accepted this at the end of last season...I.e. this year we wanted to see better football and give Chelsea more of a challenge (which we will imo). Now all of a sudden everyone expects us to win the league this season. When did that happen? I must have missed the memo...
