Think the scousers are happy with their performance, where they could of easily had 3 or 4 goals. And they are unbeaten this season. They have a lot to be cheery about compared to how they normally start seasons...Was a good game to watch as a neutral though.
If you had offered me 0 - 0 at 8.00 pm last night I would have taken your hand off.
It is a ground we have a dreadful record at so a point is a good result.
Yes we had some good chances and Cech made some great saves but Arsenals goal should have stood. I would have been livid if it had been at the other end.
All in all I felt a draw was a fair result but if the goal had been given, its a different game. Would we have come back? Im not so sure.

Good point Greatteams and we have 4 points from tough trips to Stoke and Arsenal.
The corresponding fixtures last season yielded the sum total of zero.
It's all about our defensive shape. We actually look like a solid unit again. Milner, Clyne and Gomez look like steals, and bring out what we paid for in Mignolet and Lovren. Refreshing to see compared to last year
I was most happiest performance wise with our last 2 then our first 2. Funny we failed to score in our best attacking game of the season. They do say football is a funny old game. As long as it doesn't keep repeating itself then I will be happy. Anywa yesterday game showed why Arsenal not strengthening has cost them. If you stand still you can get overtaken and that is what Arsenal are doing. Ospina was great last season similar to Cech. It wasn't the keeper position you needed to worry, it was defenders and attackers.
We got beat 4-1 only a few months ago so what do you expect?
7/9 is a great start to the season having already two away games where we often get beat.
Of course not everything is perfect but most team would be happy with the start we have had.
No goals conceded with Lovren and an 18 yr old in the back 4 equals progress!
4. Firmino - how did you feel he played yesterday? Thought he had a few nice touches here and there but can't remember much on the creative side - I could be wrong, if so please inform me.
He created the most chances, including our best chance.
Hafi give it a rest just for once
Ok cheers for responses chaps

It's not a terrible result. But it's just highlighted the same weaknesses we've had for years. That's why we are annoyed. Dominated in midfield, too slow and predictable, injuries, defensive errors, no width, not clinical enough.
Against a better and more ruthless team than Liverpool we would have been about 3 down at half time. Or 3-1 as Ramseys goal should have stood
Put it this way OP.
Last season:
Stoke 6 Liverpool 1
Arsenal 4 Liverpool 1
This season:
Stoke 0 Liverpool 1
Arsenal 0 Liverpool 0
That is a massive massive improvement.
Regarding your points:
1. No I'm not worried, we paid a premium as he is proven in this league. He should have buried it. He also had an easy chance against Bournemouth, but he hit the bar. However, not owrried in the slightest, I actually thought he played well yesterday, held up play, and gave us an outlet. Looking forward to watching him this season, and I'm confident he'll come good.
2. Agree we should have scored first half, and yes you did have a makeshift defense. However, maybe, that should be your first choice pairing, considering the other 2 seem to leak goals.
3. Looking at what clubs have paid for similar plays, he looks an absolute bargain.
4. Still bedding in, and only made 2 substitute appearances prior to yesterdays game. I like the way Rodgers is handling him, and introducing him gradually.
One question for you, I read a couple of pundits saying Ozil and Sanchez are not "team" players, will to graft and grind out a result. More like luxury players to have, what is your thoughts?
Also if Wenger does not splash the cash (which he has at his disposal) and buy a top striker, is it time for him to go? get a manager in who is not up the boards rear end?

李贝 If anyone can, Emre Can... And don't call me Schürrle (U3979)
You could always lose reverse games and end up with same points as you did from both these teams last season.
Cheers Lefty, good points all of them.
One question for you, I read a couple of pundits saying Ozil and Sanchez are not "team" players, will to graft and grind out a result. More like luxury players to have, what is your thoughts? - I'd say Sanchez is a team player as you can see his desire and hunger to win every game he plays. He's still not match fit yet he was the one trying to make things happen. Ozil, it's difficult because he looks sluggish and lazy sometimes but on the ball he can pick out a pass no one else can - just shame it's usually to Giroud.
Also if Wenger does not splash the cash (which he has at his disposal) and buy a top striker, is it time for him to go? get a manager in who is not up the boards rear end? - I'd never say I want him gone because of what he's done for the club. But it's happened every season for a while now, we know what we need but I don't know if it's stubbornness or blindness on his part. A world class striker and a big DM and I'd have us challenging for the title every year. Give me Wanyama on the cheapish and an actual goal scorer and I'd be happy!

If I were a Gooner, during and after the game last night I would be having kittens, while perched on the edge of a ledge of a building, twenty stories up, crying, "Goodbye, cruel world ...", before the big splat.
If the MOTM is your own goalkeeper, then you've got problems.
If one of Arsenals players had had a blinding game, as Gomez had yesterday, me and my fellow Reds would be Waxing lyrical about him, that's the way we are, so why 'no comment' from a gooner when one of our young stars shine? Jealousy! Perhaps?
But, wum aside, a question: why didn't Walcott and/or Chamberlian not start? They are each fantastic players. (There I go again, commending a player from the opposition side).

MrTweedy regarding the issue of buying a striker.
As utd have also seen there is not a huge amount of top quality centre forwards out there at the moment and even less are available.
To buy a really top CF you are probably not talking much change out of 50 million.
Out of curiosity, who do you think Arsenal should go for?

May have been a miscommunication there - meant no comment in terms of nothing for you to be concerned about, as per the rest of my points. He played well, and from what I hear from Liverpool supporting mates, he has done in each game this season.
RE Walcott and Ox - With you on Ox, been the player most likely to make something happen so far this season and giving him 10 minutes at the end seemed farcical to me. Walcott - he's a striker now and Wenger sees Giroud as the main man.

Fair point on Sanchez, he does put a shift in.
We shoudl have closed Ozil down better in the second half, when Arsenal are on top, he plays well, but when under the kosh, he goes missing. He was non-existent in the first half.
As for Wenger, its difficult for Arsenal fans considering his history at the club. For someone who doesent support Arsenal its easy to say "just replace him".
It was like Gerrard last season, with his history at the club, it was hard to see him leave. Was it the right decision, Yes.
